Matthew 27:34 They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.

That doesn't mean he's against the consumption of alcohol. I wouldn't drink vinegar with or without gall and I love beer. Also, he refused to drink *after* he first tasted it, leading me to believe he didn't like what it tasted like (as opposed to refusing to drink because it was alcoholic).

This is taken from the story of the crucifixion. I don't know what vinegar and gall taste like, but I'd be willing to be it isn't very good. And since the Romans were crucifying him, mocking him, torturing him, etc. do you really think they would offer him a drink of something tasty?

So to the guy who posted this verse as proof that Jesus was a tea-totaller, get your bible straight.

Christ was not a wino. All Christian's are not agaist drinking as a matter of fact you might be quite surprised to find that several Christian based denominations have no problem at all with drinking in moderation. Remember anything, done in excess can be a sinful act.

Jesus said at the last supper, " I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until all is fulfilled," thus quoting this verse neglects the entire context of Christs passion. The idea that grape juice wasn't wine is absolute ignorance seeing as grapes ferment naturally. There was no such thing as refrigeration in order to slow fermentation. Wine is wine. Drinking is not sinful. Being a sloth and a drunkard is sinful. Being self-righteous is also sinful so just get over the tea-totaller garbage. If you don't want to drink, don't. Don't impose your own pharisaical laws on others. All things are lawful; not all things are profitable. I will not be mastered by anything.

Jews called grape juice, "wine" or "new wine" that was barely if at all, alcoholic.

Try again
