The Government didn't deport because we NEEDED bodies, and if you were (white) healthy and not a criminal you were welcome to get to work. The Government also didn't HAVE such things as Welfare, Social Security, Health Care, etc until after the Great Depression !!

The US Government didn't KEEP immigration records until 1820. Nearly all population growth up to 1830 was by internal increase; about 98.5% of the population was native-born. By 1850, this had shifted to about 90% native-born.

During the 1850's-1952 most Europeans came by ship and landed at two places: Castle Garden Immigration (1855-1890 and Ellis Island (1892-1952) where you went through Immigration control and inspection: if you didn't pass, you were put back on the BOAT and the government didn't pay for it. (there goes your first claim).

Naturalization Act of 1795: "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside" applied ONLY to FREE WHITE persons until the 1870's, and was was interpreted by the Supreme Court in the 1898 case United States v. Wong Kim Ark as covering everyone born in the U.S. regardless of the citizenship of the parents, with the exception of the children of diplomats. SO until AFTER amost 1890, that law didn't APPLY to Mexicans, Asians, or Blacks.

And you didn't "Automatically" become a legal resident and citizen if you had a child... you had to state intention to seek citizenship, have a clean record, often references of moral character... then you spend 3 years working HARD without the vote or rights and became a citizen.

In the 1850's, we had a GRAND TOTAL of 2.5 million immigrants, in the 1930's we had 14 million, and the 1990's we had 19 million... so the ILLEGALS almost exceed the legal immigrants.

Correction, their kids automatically become citizens. Another thing, where is your proof of this? Are you talking about way back like 200 years ago? If so, then the immigration laws we have now were not in effect back then. It looks to me like you are the one that needs to read up on immigration. And while your at it, read up on illegal immigration and the effects it has on this country. Do a comparison between the two. Once you figure it out, e-mail me and you might be worthy of debating with.

You're right - illegal aliens do come, and have come from all countries.

But you also need to realize how many Europeans in history have been sent back because they were pregnant without a husband present, blind, or had skin disorders - it was a common practice at Ellis Island. Even if there was a language or communication barrier, some were sent back as being unintelligent. It depended upon the mood or skills of the officials processing them.

No, we don't need to read more before we say something about illegal immigration. Illegal immigrants from any country are not excused, period. They are all lawbreakers and our government has committed treason against its citizens by failing to enforce our immigration laws. Illegal is still illegal no matter how you look at it. Lawbreakers are lawbreakers and the law is the law. Justice is supposed to be blind. Enforce the laws.

Actually thats not true. They came here on boats to elis island and became naturalized legaly. Here is a nice fact though, if a potential immagrint had disease or something of that nature. They were sent back to their country!...lol...you don't know what you are talking about...
