It seems mostly themselves. All I can see is they want to only believe the proven, which leaves them little to believe in, just a one-dimension world of facts. I cannot imagine a life that shuts out possibility, dreams, art....its very sad.

Being an atheist to me..means more of being an agnostic..However I do know what I don't believe in and that is organized religion. I don't see how I can worship a deity that considers me an abomination for being born gay..and yet who claims to have created me in the first place...or a deity that allows the atrocities that I hear about every day to happen in the world...or a religion that takes billions of dollars from those who can least afford to give..the poor of the world..(all so the Pope, for example, can wear designer gowns). I do believe, however, that there is a purpose to life.

Some are Secular Humanists, some are just Secular, some are just Humanists, others are Nihilists, many are Buddhists, some practice other Eastern philosophies that do not require a Deity.

Anyone whose view of the world is based on education and philosophy instead of mythological gods, would fit the criteria.

Theist is a category term that includes all belief in god(s), even the Greek Gods and the Hindu Gods.

Atheist simply means that the philosophical, scientific and ethical view of the world is not based on god worship.

Well, I'm a pagan Taoist atheist, so I believe in the Tao and I celebrate pagan holidays. And cast spells on occastion.

I believe that all deities are metaphors for aspects of spiritual energy.

If you're interested in Taoism, here's a link to the Tao Te Ching.

Atheists are not a group. We do not all share the same thoughts and tastes of one another. You are confusing us with religious people.

The only thing we have in common is a non belief in paranormal/supernatural creatures or occurrences. Apart from that we are highly individual, free thinking people.

Whatever they want so long as it's not a god, once they start believing in god they stop being atheists.

Unbelief in any god is the only common theme of atheism. Some are Buddhists, Humanists, etc.

Lots of things. It varies from atheist to atheist. The only thing they have in common is that they don't believe in the existence of gods. It's unusual to find one who will go much for anything supernatural, but gods is the big one.

It depends on the Atheist. We do not have a set doctrine as to what we are to believe in. All Atheism means is lack of belief in God(s).

I/We Atheists do not believe in supernatural Gods or God ...

That is all.. Plain and simple.

I/we also do not believe in unicorns, faeries, or giants who live in the clouds. This is not a faith in their non-existence. This is because their is no proof of existence.

A variety of things. There are many moral and ethical philosophies in this world that have nothing to do with religion at all.
