I have rosacea and I found these two products on my own...
face doctor soap by facedoctor.ca, which has seabuckthorn oil, which affects the thing that causes the rosacea
and Laroche-Posay, a line of products made specifically for skin with issues, you can find that they have one made specifically for Rosacea...
thier anti redness moisturizer called Rosaliac is a God Send!
and of course, stay away from sun, wind, red wine, etc...

Ask your doctor for 5% pyrethrin cream...there is a large relationship between hair follicle mites and rosacea.
I can tell you from my own experience, diagnosed with rosacea for many years...no doctor ever told me about this, and I am angry for them keeping me going like this, with red bumps and bright red skin. Hair follicle mights, it is thought, may cause rosacea. I tried 5% permethrin cream (you need a prescription), and all of the rosacea went away within a few days. I used it at night, all over my face (not the eyes or lips) for a few nights. It got better so quickly. My face is now smooth and without bumps. I had also tried mirvaso, but it made my rosacea WORSE. I was at my wits end, so I tried permethrin, originally made to kill scabies mites. I also have been diagnosed with rosacea of the scalp, and the permethrin also got rid of that too! :) Don't give up until you've tried everything! I wasted years of my life, all because no doc ever told me about hair follicle mites. I had to figure it out online, all by myself.

You really need to read "Rosacea Free Forever" by Laura Taylor (also available in electronic format here: http://www.rosaceafreeforever.info ). It's about how to permanently cure your Rosacea naturally. I cured my Rosacea permanently in only 4 days after reading this.
Stop paying paying each month good money on creams. This is exactly what the pharmaceutical industry wants you to do! They want to milk money from you each month.

I have started using Aveeno Calming Cream at night and have seen a great improvement. My rosacea isn't too bad though. Also no coffee or wine. That makes it really flare up!

I don't think it's possible to avoid heat. Secondly, since I've started working out in the gym, i.e. sweating alot, my rosacea has actually gotten better. Try one of those new products for redness. Clinique has good products, if you can afford it (i can't). Aloe vera treats redness and irritation - I wonder if that would help. I'd like to know too.

How long have you been using the Metrogel?
I had to use it for a few months before my rosacea cleared up completely but it did work.
I also avoided abrasive scrubs and anything w/ menthol, camphor or mint.

Don't give up, it takes a while for this stuff to work, but it will, just give it time. And don't use anything but mild soaps on your face. Antibiotics are the only thing that seemed to work for me on this embarrassing condition.
