There isn't.
(And there isn't in the Bible, especially if you read it in the original languages...)
Edit: Um, if I say HEY, YOU! How many am I addressing?

Good philosophical question so here goes. I like the Hindus with their multitude of Gods. I have come to believe there are at least two gods because we live in a dualistic universe. Light and dark, hot and cold, north and south of a magnet, matter and anti-matter....the list seems endless when it comes to listing the opposites of things, such as matter being the opposite of energy. Now then, the point...... for the universe to exist there must be a potential difference and the middle ground is the reality we live in. Analogy.....the plus and minus of a battery.....without that potential difference the bulb will not light. So I say that, without the potential difference of two Gods, one plus and one minus, their energy at odds with one another, then, the universe would not exist and neither would we. We live in a universe of cause and effect. What causes the effect and what causes the cause? It must be two of something.

I suppose we could say there is one god with many faces. Each of us perceive god in a different way and depending on what we may "need" at the time a different face which would explain why others see many gods. I think that perhaps there is one god like there is only one me.
For an example - I am a daughter (to my parents), a sister (to my sister), a mother (to my children), a ***** (to my ex-husband), a financee (to my boyfriend), a best-friend (to my friend of 25 years) and a supervisor (to those I work with). I am one woman but have many faces to those who know me.

A question asked, and yet already known. This is a simple question that have a simple answer. Since, you know what the bible says, I am asking, "what do you believe?" It's not enough to just read the bible, it's everything to believe it, and live it. You already have your answer to, why is there only "one God?" You fail to believe it.

God made everything, including time and space. People used to think the universe was infinitely old, never ending, but that got kicked out the window by science (the big bang).
This points striaght to God and creation, as does DNA, molecular biology and many other sciences. All this stuff get confusing but look at it this way, infinite is a theory, God is real.
Before everything else; God was. We are created in his image and their is only one of us. Their are other people but only one just like you. God transends time and space and all physical laws, he made them, he can step into them or out of them as he pleases.
Read about the Kallam principle, read "The case for a creator" by Lee Stroble. Look for the truth.

it's really a corollary. If someone chooses to believe and love in God, then that faith and relationship requires certain tenents. one of them is that there is only one God. I choose to believe in God and therefore believe that there is only one God.
If you're looking for an explanation that doesn't touch faith or feeling, it's tough. it's like trying to explain to someone why your love for your child is different than any other person's love for their own child. it's unique to you.
also, you say that "there is no one of any other single type of thing". well, is that really true? there is only one you. you have only one father and one mother. even physically, no two objects in this universe are exactly the same. they may consist of the same parts, but the sum of the whole is always different.
it all comes down to faith.

Well, if the Universe is a created thing, then why would the Creator be bound by the same conventions? Besides, although there are many humans, there is only one human that has all of the same traits that you have, and it will never happen again.

There are basic laws that govern the universe, they can be explained by reading about quantum physics. To answer your question, in my opinion we control the universe through our thoughts! This is a secret that few know! It explains why 1% of the worlds population controls 96% of the Money. They know something. FAITH plays a Huge role, what you have faith in, in turn controls what you believe, and what you believe affects how you feel and how you feel controls how we act. It is what we do that defines us and the universe. The One god is the one entity that puts everything together for us. Knowing that it will happen and having faith that the events will line up is putting faith in that one entity, GOD!

"Man is, and always has been, a maker of gods. It has been the most serious and significant occupation of his sojourn in the world."
"It may be that our role on this planet is not to worship God, but to create him."

How many do you need?
P.S. The One is Three, and the Three are One.
Take care and may God bless you spiritually.
