Both were systems designed to treat all people better, but the members of both groups look after their own needs first.

1st communism only works in theory (Thank the gods for that one.) as in all things religion is just a guide not an all truism. For you can teach an animal to find water but you can't teach it to drink. 2nd you forget the most important dynamic of your question people. For people tend to tend they're own flock before helping or tending someone Else's. It's human nature to take care of your own before taking care or helping others. and as long as there are groups willing to harm one group based on beliefs then the teachings of Jesus and the other messengers or faith i.e. John the Baptist( he was not a disciple of Christ),Gandhi and the Dali Lama are useless because the teachings of peace are falling on deaf ears or closed minds or worse both.

Communism is a failure, but it is not just because people did not apply it. It just could not work economically - this was the socialist economic calculation debate between Hayek and von Mises (who were right) and Otto Langer (who was wrong).

As to Christianity, Christianity is not a failure. People are in this world.

Christianity isn't a failure... it's growing around the world. Of course we are told in the bible to do good to all and especially to those "who are of the hosuehold of faith" - I suppose that's what you call "looking after their own needs first". But William Temple said that the Church was the only organisation which existed for the benefit of those outside it. We seek to share what we have with others - our faith.

Communism is not a religion. Christianity was not "designed" to treat people better, it's purpose is to restore the relationship lost between us and God.

Actually they are both systems of control by definition that is the purpose of government and religion.

Communism failed because its leaders were insane in trying to keep up with US weapons projects and bankrupted their economy.

Christianity as a belief system encompassing all the sub-faiths (Catholics, Protestants, Mormons, etc.) is alive and well and ever growing thanks to missionary work bringing godless natives to the light of Jesus.

I would consider neither a failure. Travel to Asian countires...you will see evidence of communism. As far as Christianity, I believe taht many people out there try hard to live as Christians are supposed to, according to the Bible.

You are aware that Karl Marx, the father of communism, was an Atheist.
