I have spent a couple of days on R/S, Just watching questions and responses. I had heard from people how ridicoulous people were here.
I think that it is safe to say that the majority of people here are Atheist's, Agnostics, Christians, and the Spiritual.
I have watched Atheist's ask Christian's who created God and to provide proof..(even though I know that is impossible to answer) and watched as you commented and laughed about the fact that they can't answer you. I have watched Christians ask "How did the universe get here..and provide proof" and not one answer too that.
I have seen Questions ridiculing Christians and then questions asking "So who exactly persecutes Christians" The answers are from the same people, who actually do it, and reply that they are "crying" about it.
Now my question?
Are your eyes completely closed as too what you do? This is for Christians as well...Do you realize what you do and say?

I am not saying that anyone is being "Persecuted"....But I do see alot more critisim from Atheist's too Christians.
I am not denying the fact that there are some "wacky" christians and religious people saying "Your going to hell"
Remember this is for them as well...
What I am trying to say, Is that we are ALL GUILTY OF IT TO EACH OTHER.
Everyone in here is ridiculing someone's beliefs, Rather then embracing it with respect and too what to understand it...

Oh Trust me I am accusing myself of this as well. I have been here for a couple of days and got angered yesterday..and then I realized...that I could just as easily become involved...Is it basic human nature to defend our beliefs?
everyone has given so GREAT answers, choosing the best will be very difficult

halleluya just what i wanted to hear.I agree with you.we all have part in this, but we are simply defending our beliefs.personally i sometimes feel like some just cant accept someone elses beliefs and that its creating a big problem.I think we should stop judging each other and just answer the questions given without offending anyone.

Most Christians are more than willing to study with someone if they are sincere but the people on here are rude and crude and want to incite and spew venom at everyone and call them names like they are on some playground, just because everyone doesn't believe the way they do.
As a Christian, I don't waste my time with people who have closed minds when there are lots of people who really do want to learn. There are many unanswered questions that we may never know the answers to but Christians operate on faith and we trust in our Almighty God that He knows what is best for us.
Each of us will have to answer for the problems we cause while on this earth and all of those on here who ridicule those who believe in God will one day be on their knees, begging for forgiveness but by then, it will be too late. The time to make it right is now while you are in the physical body, not once the soul has parted from the body.
And I have yet to hear anyone make sense when they have tried to explain the Big Bang Theory. After all, where did "that" matter come from? Laugh all you want people. The last laugh will be on you when your blasphemy will catch up with you.

It is I who commonly asks"who is persecuting Christians?"You have your definition of persecution screwed. Even if I were to respond to a question with "all Christians are closet homosexuals who smoke crack and screw chimpanzees"That is not persecution, that is simply talk on Yahoo. Persecution is when a president(George H Bush)states "atheists should not be considered citizens"Persecution is when there is an organized effort to try to teach the bible as science in the class.Persecution is when people want to force my children to pray to their god in school. Persecution is wanting the ten commandments displayed on government property..1st commandment"thou shalt worship no other god before me"Persecution is attempting to subvert the constitution and have the christian version of a caliphate in the U.S.Persecution IS NOT a few traded insults on Y/A. I DEFINITELY realize what I say. It's called a reality check

Has this sampling of questions truly been a representative sample and not, say, biased towards what you were looking for?
Two dozen times a day Christians post that all non-Christians are going to hell, ha ha ha. And saying all kinds of nasty rude things, and making ignorant assumptions and asking snarky questions. I wont' deny the rudeness of atheists, but Christians are not one whit better by any stretch of the imagination.
Also are you absolutely clear on what persecution really is?

I think that people who ask these questions, and those who are willing to answer, are just having a good time debating. Plato loved to create arguments and then, just as he had persuaded everyone to his way of thinking, he would change his stance and argue in the other direction, until he had persuaded them again. That is the fun of this whole site. People finally get a chance to have heated debates about universal quandries that are considered taboo and too "unsensitive" to bring up at dinner parties. Don't take it all so seriously or you will give yourself a stomache ache, I'm sure.

It does get a bit ridiculous in here sometimes...ok most of the time. Once in a while you will see a question in which the person is truly seeking information, or one that makes people truly think.
I think those that answer this with hate or sarcasm are probably some of those that do what you described.

I realize that there is a war going on here. A war of wits if nothing else.
But many times I am not answering the question for the benefit of the asker, but for those who might gain benefit from my answers.
PROOFREADING SIDEBAR: You do pretty well on your ability to communicate. But you use too many 'o's' in the use of the word 'to'.
Not that it's important.
EDIT: Do you see what your first answer wrote? That's the mentality that we are dealing with all too often. You said that you were observing, and you got it thrown in your face. Some people are just dense and aren't afraid to show it.

the annominity of the internet allows people to vent. Yes people contradict themselves frm time to time but to not is impossible, you can't be a perfect model of what you say all of the time, that is impossible for humans. People come here to say what they think in real life but don't say out loud. There is no need for control here because there is no conseqence. What makes you above this typical behavoir?

This is a place where I kill time as we are slow at work...
Yes, I think it is a waste of time...Everyone has their belief...and no one here is willing to listen to others...I believe forums where people are face to face are the best at discussing issues and having to hear each other out.
If I were at home, there is no way I would waste my precious free time here...there are too many better, and more productive things to be doing.

Poking fun at someone's beliefs (or disbeliefs) is hardly in the same league as persecution, but I do see what you are saying.
The thing is, ridicule is a valid and accepted discussion method, and I mean all the way up to the loftiest heights of academe. If the 'intellectual cream' aren't above it, then it's good enough for us too.
The basic precept behind ridicule is that if you can't take the ridicule then you aren't really behind the belief you claim to have. You might even consider that it leads to better debate by 'separating the wheat from the chaff'.
