She obviously likes you and your husband. Take a nice photo of you two and put it in a nice frame and send it to her with a nice note.

your aunt loves you very much but money can strain any relationship...and at the time you were probably hard up for the cash I know how that is , its time for your husband to become a little more firm and pay the money back. so what I'd do is flowers a nice thank you card and slip the check in the card..no matter how hard things are or get. Your husband should be a little less agreeable in accepting money from relatives even if it strains the relationship at the time between you and them. long term they will like you all the more for it, if you don't pay it back after awhile they won't even talk to you...And in some cases find yourselves in court arguing about it being a loan or not...

I think you should send her a nice note and tell her how much you appreciate her. Maybe make her some cookies. She would not want you to spend money for a present - she gave you money to help you out of a bind not to buy her something.

Since she offered you money you shouldn't spend a lot of money on a thank you (if it was me that gifted money to a relative and they bought something for me I would be pretty upset because it would be like I was "buying it for myself") Send a nice thank you note that's personalized letting her know how much you appreciate her generosity. It will be appreciated by her without any resentment!
You're lucky to have such a giving relative!

I think it is appropriate to just send her a very nice well though out thank you card....sometimes thats all that is neccesary and says a lot, invite her over for dinner and a good time and especially tell her and show ow much it is appreciated that she helped you out in a tight situation, KUDOS to her for being so kind and generous

I would suggest a restaurant gift certificate, although that's not terribly unique. Maybe get tix for all of you to a play or a concert or sporting event - whatever she might like.

send her a thank you note. she cares about you and if you don't have enough money to send her something expensive, she will understand. make it something from your heart, or something you are good at making. make her a flower basket with your own hands. good luck on whatever you choose.

no jewelry. nothing extravagant...after all,
you dint have extra $.
bake her a pie if you feel you must 'tit-for tat'.
a sincere card would be most appropriate.
she has no expectations. learning to 'get your feet washed' is a challenge for most of us...i do understand.
a card. or a pie and a card. she'll appreciate gratitude (which you do have) but a gift for a gift is in poor taste.

Just a thank you note. She might not appreciate you spending her money to buy her frivolous gifts when you can't afford to fix your own car.

........Invite her over for a really nice home cooked meal, with dessert and wine and also give hr those flowers. This shows a lot, that you have put some personal effort into thanking her.......
