I ask questions from time to time, but usually I already know the answer to them. Not always, however. I like to talk to the atheist, because I was lost like them just a few years back. I hope (as He already has gifted me) I can continue to challenge atheists, and that God bestows them grace. After all, I am just an atheist who has been shown grace. Now I believe.

As an atheist, i originally came here because my girlfriend is a Christian, and I wanted to learn a little bit more about her faith. In my part of the planet, Christianity is just a minority issue, and I hardly knew anything about it.
So, I came to learn.
What I found here terrified me at first. I saw a bunch of homophobic, closed-minded scary religious people, with answers and quotes that I had never heard in my normal daily life.
Some of the Christians were nice, I started talking to them, and learned a lot about their beliefs, which are (when practiced with an open mind and a loving heart) beautiful beliefs.
However, most of the online religious people are simply awful, and I refuse to believe this section even remotely resembles real life religion.
So, after a while i simply came here to see the nice people again, the many funny atheists, Pagans, Buddhists, some Deists, and together we watch the train wreck called "Faith". It's fun to watch, it's horrible to watch, and it's addictive to watch.
Do I have questions left? Millions. Do I want them answered? Honestly, I prefer not. The hateful, disgusting answers usually shock me.

Why do i? i'm addicted! please help me. lol.
But really.....i visited this section because i'm interested in other people's perspectives and beliefs, and also to share my religious perspectives with others. Did i receive the answers i was looking for? well.....i wasn't really looking for answers, but for the time i've been here, i sure have gained much greater insight on the beliefs and perspectives of others with respect to religion. i think R& S is definately one of thE most unique and interesting sections on Yahoo! answers. And it's probably one of the few sections where people who post questions answer their own questions......and some just post questions that actually aren't questions at all. lol.
I'm an addict.......are you?

I visit to see what others think, and it causes me to study more and increase my faith. I 've also gotten several bible study topics from here. There are some intelligent questions and answers on here once in awhile. There will always be questions, we are ever learning and never coming to the full understanding. Have a blessed day. I tried not to be rude, but pray for me anyway.

As a Catholic, I like to find the occasional interesting theological question answered by people who have better theological training than I do ... but unfortunately these questions are rare. (Not that people who are better theologians than I am are rare ... but these people seem to be scared off by the mindless "atheism v. fundamentalism" shoutfest, which is becoming as shrill and annoying as the "democrap v. repuglican" screechfest in the Politics area that I just couldn't deal with any more ... basically turning Americans into Sunnis vs. Shia.)
As for questions I answer, my training is in science ... so I will answer those questions that display a misuse or misunderstanding of science and BASIC science concepts (like what the word "theory" means, or the difference between "evidence" and "proof). People who post BAD-SCIENCE questions also occasionally go over to the Science & Mathematics sections, but they get hammered so badly by people who know a little science that they generally just post-and-run. They return here because they get a lot more support from like-minded people, and the average R&S person may not be as much into science ... so I like to bring a little actual science to the table.
Oh, and I will occasionally take to task what I call the "Cardboard Christians" ... people who are Christians in name only. These are people who think "morality" means defining, monitoring, and judging the morals of others. These are people so busy upholding the literal *letter* of the scriptures, that they completely miss the point of what the scriptures are really about ... building a world of compassion and beauty.
P.S. As an example of intolerance ... why did jenn3365 get so many thumbs down? (I just gave her her first thumbs up.) Other than trying to spread the word that Islam is not as horrible a religion as bigoted Americans think it is ... what did she say that was negative?

I come on here to clear up misconceptions about my religion. I am LDS and it seems that after reading people's questions and especially their responses that people are completely getting the wrong idea about the Mormon religion. It's just a service and I don't try to convert anyone, but I like it when people can respect each other's beliefs so I try to make it so there are no misunderstandings.

I thought I'd YA was a place of informative interaction, to share knowledge accross the globe. I've found it to be more like a chat room with everyone just throwing their 2cents worth - usually without much thought. But I'm enjoying banter... it's a bit of a community going on here.
My thoughts though - R&S is the worst place for a Christian to come looking for the answers to life. People should rather build real discipleship relationships.

This place is like a store that sells second-hand clothes.
You got to go through alot of junk, but here and there is a gem of an item.
I am continually amazed at most people's inability to be humble and am very saddened by the sorrowful plight of others.

Because of the variety of things discussed here.
I like answering the real questions when I can and get a good laugh out of the silly questions. There have also been questions that have made me angry, made me think and gave me answers to things I have wondered about others but wouldn't ask in person.
I also come here to get my mind off things like my day at work.

I blame all of it on his education and up bringing, now if Steve had the style of up bringing the place his mothers and fathers had taught him each and every thing and extra him to the large Creationist Museum he would not have wasted maximum of years in education! this is the subject with Studyitiuos! the probabilities of ever being thoroughly cured is extremly uncommon! i think of extra must be achieved to assist such human beings, if truth be told i think of i'm going to easily pop right into some universities and component out the Evil errors of their techniques!
