But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.

We know we are ready if we are doing what is required of us and more. We go the extra mile to make sure that what we are doing is pleasing to God.

Like the virgins with the extra oil. They prepared beyond what might have seemed necessary, and it paid off in the end. We should likewise use our sources and time to do just as Jesus commanded his faithful followers to do.

Constantly be diligent in the tasks assigned to you by the Lord. If you are always on the ball, you'll be ready when the bridegroom comes. So first, you probably need to know what your assignment is, seek God for that answer. Then, no slacking, always be working at it.

We know we are ready if we are anxiously engaged in making the gospel an active part of our lives right now, and not sometime in the future. Procrastination can be a very bad thing.

That verse takes my breath away every time I read it.

Assurance of salvation! That my lamp be full and remain full! That I would be ready and not left behind.

Woe to those in that moment's moment when they realize that they were left behind... What a horrific revelation that will be.

I am curious what others have to say about their "assurance of salvation." Mine lies in Jesus and Jesus alone. "For we are saved by grace through faith, it is a gift from God and not that of works lest any man should boast."--Ephesians 2:8-9

That's why He tells us to ALWAYS be prepared and ready. We should always be living for the Lord and serving Him then we wouldn't have to "worry" about if we were ready or not we would know that we were ready.

You know if you are bearing Christian fruit or not. All branches not bearing fruit will be cut off.

John 15:1,2 I AM the true vine; and my Father is the husbandman. 2Every branch in me, that beareth not fruit, he will take away: and every one that beareth fruit, he will purge it, that it may bring forth more fruit. (Darby)

If we have Christ....then our lamps are full.

It's called eternal security....and no one can separate us from the love of God (Romans 8:28-39)
