very true. my mom has a dark patch on her left cheek bec thats where her lamp shade is. it's a 9 watt bulb, yellow light. she's undergoing glutathione treatment now.

The Bulb needs to be a UV bulb (Ultra-violet) as these are the rays that cause skin color changes. Generally, These bulbs are fluorescent but I have seen some Incandescent (screw in) Ultraviolet bulbs which are VERY expensive. The screw in ones are commonly used when keeping reptiles as pets because they give off the UV and Heat that reptile needs.

Regarding your lightbulb quest, no there is no tanning from a lightbulb - you get splotchy, uneven burns.

You would have to have a lightbulb similar to ones you use ina tanning bed. But not an ordinary one, i don't think. It would have to have UV rays
