is this not a place to learn, how can we learn through nasty nuance and attack answers. is it really one side over the other.
i have to say this is one area where i may tend to have issue with evolution, we are devolving in our ability to maintain discourse, and are acting more like judgmental vindictive little gods.
i do not understand why questions about religion are broken down into spelling lessons or grammar lessons. is that just a way of trying to gain power over the opposing viewpoint? to attack their typing or their knowledge base?

there is a difference in a thoughtful and professorial response to someone who may have a weakness in language or in knowledge, i am speaking specifically of attacks, and i think most of us know the difference between attacks and a didactic approach to answering a question

One thought that comes to mind is that there are many out there who have low self esteem and it makes them feel better to put others down...It is sad but that fits a large part of our population....when a society makes it acceptable to put others down, even through humor and comedy at others expense, this is what you get.

typos are a given, but knowledge is different. People rattle off things that they heard from mom, dad, tv, ect.. They have a couple of bad experiences and then decide that others are wrong. Just like racism, you have a bad experience with, say a black guy, now every black guy you see you think is bad. People love to stereotype, they love to build you up to tear you down and then they try to act like they're the victim. In view of religion, i am a Christian ( and proud of that fact.) People on r&s quote scriptures and don't know what they mean or they take the meaning out of context. Then when you try to correct them they get bent. Or if scripture is used then they say don't use it "can't you think on your own" ( when they know this is the foundation of our beliefs.) So it ends up turning into an altercative enviorment.

I think people have an instinct to help others. When poor grammar and spelling are seen we see a need and what you see as attacks may be a way of trying to help them with their weakness. You should adjust your perspective; you are on the defensive; I think people find some satisfaction in telling others their knowledge not that others know nothing.

I agree 100%. Why can't people let other people take joy in what they believe. Why do others have to force their options and way of life on everyone else. I enjoy other peoples diversity and different cultures. Thank God for everyone being different otherwise the world would be a pretty boring place.

I take no joy in pointing out to people that they know nothing about a subject on which they are preaching, claiming to know it all.

The ignorance of others depresses me.

You really should capitalize the first letter or each sentence. Sheesh! ;-P

I do not understand why people take so much pleasure in trying to disprove what others believe. It seems very petty and mean-spirited to me.

It's called an inferiority complex...they must put down others to make themselves feel higher.

Oftentimes those who know less thought they know better. Maybe they just do not want others to know that they have less to claim.
