Why are so many Christians also right wing conservative republicans as well? Doesn't the principals of this political party go against what Christ was really all about?

Jesus said "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God What is God's." I don't believe that it what ever Christ's intention (if he ever really existed) for his followers to be involved in politics. I believe that if Jesus were here today in America, he would oppose abortion on a personal level and try to encourage women not to undergo the procedure, but I don't think he would ever support a law banning it. Similarly, I don't think Jesus would support universal medicine but would help others when given the opportunity and encourage people to do the same. I don't believe Jesus would even vote. He would have more important things to do. Jesus never supported violent uprisings against the pagan Romans and their non-Jewish laws and customs, but encouraged his disciples to respect their authority.

Radical Christian fundamentalists have destroyed this key belief of Jesus Christ and turned him into a rallying political figure instead of an inspiring one who encouraged human beings to care for one another. I think Christians would do the rest of the country a great favor by following the example of their lord and staying out of the political system entirely.

It's all about the gay marriage and abortion and separation of church and state issue.

Basically these are wedge issues the Republicans are using to get the votes of conservative Christians. Whether the Repulicans in question are genuine or just putting on a front is another story.

The truth is most Christians are moderates and not all agree on these issues.

The two moral issues that many Christians are most concerned about are abortion and gay rights. They tend to vote for the candidates/party that opposes both of those. That is most often the Republican party.

Being Republican, in and of itself, somewhat would not have something to do with faith, so no, to answer your question, i do no longer think of they're unavoidably contradictory. Being a Republican ability (or a minimum of used to) upholding conservative values; meaning right here: a million. minimum government offering for person-friendly desires and infrastructure 2. very own liberty is preserved in any respect costs 3. extra desirable judgements are dealt with on a state point. freeing the oppressed is infrequently a Liberal philosophy in my recommendations, as liberals do no longer relatively teach the oppressed and the destructive a thank you to upward push above; they only supply handouts to maintain them treading water indefinitely. Conservatives, on the different hand, comprehend that via granting entire liberty (which contain the two the liberty to prevail or fail) is the only thank you to truly gain greatness. replaced into it a liberal who freed the slaves? No, it replaced into Republican Abraham Lincoln. replaced into it a liberal who stimulated a civil rights flow for Blacks in the 1960's? No, it replaced into Republican Martin Luther King Jr. Then in case you like to seem at which team donates extra to charity, there too the top result's that conservatives donate critically extra desirable than liberals (approximately 30% extra), even however greenback for greenback, liberals earn extra desirable than conservatives (on common). See hyperlink a million As for the ambience, take a seem at my 2nd hyperlink to make certain how between the main iconic liberals and one iconic conservative relatively stack up against one yet another. Case closed: contradictory? No!

It's the abortion thing. Democrats are pro-choice and most republicans are pro-life. That's what a lot of if boils down to. My family has a saying. Some people think the R stands for Righteous and the D for Devil. I don't think that, but it sure explains a lot where I'm from.

You cannot correlate Christianity with being Republican...see the Democrats are mostly Christian too....actually, most of these people just claim to be a certain faith to be pleasing to the most common of American voters

I mainly vote Republican. The main issues which win my support are their stand against abortion, and their opposition for special rights for homosexuals. I am more of an old- fashioned Democrat, like my father.

The best way to understand it is to realize that both political parties are coalitions of different groups.

There's nothing that says that if you want to cut taxes you must be pro-life, or for the death penalty.

I agree...Republicans are about Corporate welfare and Corporate greed....yet Christians, look the other way when it comes to this...and only care about the social issues of gay rights and abortion.....fundamentalists are very much one issue voters...
