We get paid on the 1st and 15th. e-1's dont make a hell of a lot, but later on down the road the pay gets better. that 1,301.40 is split in half, one installment on the 1st and one on the 15th. If you have dependents the pay is more, and if you live out in town, its even more!! You can make some pretty good money, and remember... you dont pay for schooling and you dont pay for medical/dental.. so if you were to add all that in, we get paid pretty darn good.

all pay charts are monthly. Pay is divided into 2 checks, one on the 15th of each month that covers the 1st through the 15th, and the second is on the first of the following month, that covers the 16th to the 30/31st.
Additionally all allowances are aso divided into 2 payments as well.

That would be the monthly pay. Also, that number doesn't include other benefits (100% medical insurance, for instance). Also, most are not E-1's for long... you'd be better off looking at E-3 or E-4 pay when making comparisons to civilian pay. In addition, if you are eligible to live off-base, you will receive a TAX FREE housing allowance. You may also receive TAX FREE BAS (Basic Allowance for subsitance)

That's your monthly base pay. You get paid by direct deposit twice a month. Along with that you get BAS, and BAH usually (Basic Allowance for Subsitence and Basic Allowance for Housing) The BAS is set and is moeny that is meant to help pay for you groceries. The BAH flucuates depending on where you live and is money that is meant to at least partially cover you mortage or rent. Since E-1 is a recruit and you will be living on base by definition, you might not get these until you get out of boot camp. If after boot camp you elect to live on base I think you lose your BAH. BTW most likely you will be at least E-2 by the time you are finished with boot camp if not E-3.

the amount you said above is what you will get if you get paid on the first only.. If you pick to get paid 2 times a month you will get 650.70 each pay. But you might want to add in your sep rats and if you are going to get housing or not.. Yeah the military dont pay the best in the world its the benefits that matter the most.
