My husband is shorter than I am. It used to bother me, now it doesn't. The benefit of having him in my life means so much more. Here's what I have done.
When I am out with him, I wear shoes with very low heal or flats. This way, we are very close to equal in height, or depending on what shoes he is wearing, he may appear taller. That way, if it bothers him at all, you are showing him respect. I even wore flats at my wedding, and for our wedding pictures, since my dress was long, I bent a little at the knees. It just showed him that even though I am proud of my height, I respect that who, I am man thing and gave him a boost in that area.
Now when I am out without him, that's when I wear my heals, or big heeled, huge tall shoes. Then I enjoy wearing what I want and having a good time. It doesn't have to be this way all the time, but I tend to wear lower shoes when I know we'll be photographed together, or dancing together. To me, it's respect like he would show by opening the door for you, standing up at the table when you stand up, so on and so forth.

I'm fairly tall and I can remember being embarassed about dating short guys. I actually would wear flat shoes and slump so that I didn't look so tall compared to my date! Looking back, I realize how stupid I was! One of my favorite boyfriends was short and I never let it get serious because of that. He was a great person.
Here's what you do. When you're out with him, you stand tall, dress nicely, and wear heels if you want. Your boyfriend will love to show you off! Short guys love being able to squire around tall women. It's the same as saying they must have a lot going for them to attract a tall woman.
I know a number of couples in which the wife is considerably taller than the man and they don't seem to have a problem with it, nor do any of their friends. The only time it looks odd is when the wife is quite overweight and the man is skinny.
Don't lose this wonderful man over this issue. You have a chance for real happiness, so don't lose focus on what's important.

You need to ignore it, if you love him you shouldn't let that bother you, it doesnt matter right? He makes you happy, smile, laugh, make you feel good then thats all that matters. 2 inches isnt really a lot either. It's basicly the same hight. If it still bothers you then tell him to wear "tall" shoes and you can wear "short" shoes like sandles. Remember that love beats everything. *wink* =)

Wow.. I though I was the only one!lol. I love my bf as well (2 yrs together) I'm 5'8'' and he's 5'6'' and that was one of my main reason not to get involve with him in the beginning, but I tried to put it behind me because overall he's a wonderful man. even though there are times I still wished and prayed he got some height. lol. I always like the thought of tiptoeing to kiss my lover.lol

I would have to say the same thing that everyone else said. If you truly love him like you say you do then the height should not matter. It's really whats on the inside.

I've never understood this, why does it matter? Does it make him a bad person? If he was missing a arm would you ask the same type of question? Height has nothing to do with love....

Get over it! Don't be weird, girl. Henry Kissinger is married to a GIANT. Count your blessings. He's a superior being, since all that goodness is compressed into such a neat, little package!
I wish you luck!

Wear flat heels and thank God for letting you have a wonderful guy. My husband is just a tad shorter than me.

You just have to let it go! If you love him, then it shouldn't matter. Sounds like a good idea to just keep reminding yourself of all his good points. But you're right, it's your issue. You have to deal with it and get over it!
