I have heard of that before. It is a liability thing. Not to mention, my obgyn is one of the best in the area, so the wait time to get a first visit can take 2 months, and then they have all the patients on a very structured schedule. Maybe you could find a doctor that isn't as "popular" in your area. You may have to go to a clinic to get prenatal care. Do you have a general practitioner? Maybe you could schedule a visit there and see what he/she can do for you.

you are 6 months and you haven't been to the doctor? You are trying to make a first doctors appointment correct? This is because you are so far along already - he is worried about legal things if something were to be wrong or go wrong since you were not seeing the doctor earlier in your pregnancy when he could have caught or detected anything wrong or troubling. My suggestion is try other doctors. I don't know who you could seek help from on this issue. Please make sure you get prenatal care ASAP. This will help insure your baby is healthy. Good luck!

Huh , that is non-sense , a dr should see anyone who seeks help , now you r almost in yr 26 gestational weeks , maybe you should have been seeing a dr much much earlier , like after 10 weeks of getting pregnant , and that is what is called the booking visit , since a dr should be following you and the baby every 1 month so he can interfere if any problem could occur .......... But not going to a dr all that period doesnt mean that he cant see you !!!!!!

Alot of Dr.'s will not see a new patient who is in her second trimester..why? Because of insurance and liability!
You need to go to an emergency room clinic, or a well care clinic and explain that you do not have an ob-gyn, and they will check you out and can refer you to a follow up doctor, that Dr. MUST take you! Good luck..

I can't believe that. I would try another doctor. If worse comes to worse, go to a family practice doctor. They can deliver babies. I had to move to another town when I was 7 months pregnant, and I didn't have any trouble getting into a new doctor. I would call your local health department and ask them for the name of a doctor who wil see you. Good luck.

They should see you, even if they are busy they can direct you to another doctor. Try your local hospital. During my pregnancy I travelled to another state and needed to see a doctor I got in right away. Do you live in the USA? Just try your local hospital. Good luck.

Usually its because they are all booked up. It takes a long time to get an appointment, but once you do, your covered all the way through. OBs are VERY busy.
Why'd you wait so long?

I never had that problem & I waited awhile too due to my fear of needles. Try another doctor at another clinic or call your county & ask for help.
