Bad spelling yes, but I think the asker knows how to organize thoughts pretty well.
Follow the money trail, and motive.
They come here to work, they are for the most part good people. However, they entered ILLEGALLY. So how do we fix that?
We fine the companies that hire them, the exact amount it takes to deport them - and actually use the money to deport them, not pocket it. If they have children that are born here (who are US citizens), the parents can be granted amnesty, if they rat out 3+ other immigrants that are here illegally. Seems fair does it not? If they don't have a record, they can apply to come back LEGALLY.
No mercy for the ones in jail already, MANY can be deported for less than the cost of a 1 year stay in the pen of a single inmate (around $22,000 per person per year, in 2001 at least).

Blame the law makers . All the States that were feeling the effects of an unbalanced system when it came to the influx of immigrants from our southern borders have been carrying the burden for years. At first they benefited from their labors and now after 9/11 and the up coming election and the media there is almost a mob mentality that prevails any logical discussion amongst those that have the least power to do anything about it. That's us folks. We name call and point fingers and demonize these people who, because of their status, have no voice. Thank you Federal Government. You sat on your keysters for the last twenty years parading around like your better cause you're a Democrat or Republican and now have the American public screaming at everyone, but, you. With at least 20 million illegals and social security dependent on 900,000 immigrants a year , needed to keep it a float, there is no way to collect, prosecute and follow due process to deport each individual illegal. Perhaps that is why we are granting "amnesty" to a population bigger than some small towns in the United States. To complicate matters we have the children who are now American citizens. We have had investigations on White Water, Iran Contra etc. Why aren't we demanding one on this?

Last time I checked illegal mean that something done was wrong. In this case, a person entered this country in the wrong manner. There are ways to come to the US in a legal manner. Why can't these people do that. We have a right to control our border and if we only allow some many, too bad. The bleeding heart liberals are too concerned with doing the popular thing than securing our country. I feel that we should be at the illegal rallies and start carting these people off to the border. forget the trial, they are not citizens and should not have the same rights as those of us here in a legal manner.

What do you do with an illegal alien couple who has had a child in this country? The child has every legal right to stay in the US because he or she is a US citizen. Do you deport the parents and keep the child here? Do you send the child to a country that it's never been to, away from it's native country? There are a lot of illegals in that situation and others that make it a much more complicated problem than you suggest.
BTW, they don't send you to jail merely for being here illegally. It's a civil offense, not a criminal one.

It's impossible to put illegal immigrants in jail, they would clog up the whole system and more jails would have to be built. The fact is that they will continue to cross the border, come in boats, planes etc. The ones that do come in illegally actually work in jobs most US citizens find too demeaning like cleaning hotel rooms, picking fruits and vegetables, as maids and gardeners and in construction. I don't know exactly how to stop illegal immigration and apparently neither do the politicians

It is not as cut and dry as that. There are some illegals who are here causing problem but the masses are here trying to work and make a living for themselves and their families. I know some people who are here and have been here for more than 20 years, they own homes and business, they pay taxes and file income tax and are doing everything that they are supposed to be doing but they just don't have their papers. They have children who are here who are citizens and who don't understand what all of the political hang up are. Is it fair that these people have to leave this country? Is it fair that their children, who are citizen have to leave this country? The government needs to get their shyt together and come up with a solution that is workable for EVERYONE involved and NO sending them back "where they came from" is not the solution.

I agree with what you're saying. But the problem is that we have TOO MANY illegals in the US. Even if a miracle happened and all the illegals got caught by immigration, we don't have enough prisons and jails to hold them.

We can't put all of the illegal immigrants in jail. Our jails are too crowded as is. That's why sex offenders and murderers get turned loose for good behavior. The wall between Mexico and the US isn't a bad idea, but we would have to labor to build it. Where is that labor coming from? :)

We have allowed thousands of people into this country illegally and did nothing to try and stop them. WE have given them work and educated their children. We can't suddenly ship them all home . Their children are now legal residents. It's actually a very complicated situation. We don't have prisons large enough to house them all. And who would raise the legal children? We would still be feeding and clothing them and giving them medical attention in prison or out. Our greedy entrepeneurs and "look the other way" government officials have created a very sticky wicket.

Congress makes deals with special interest groups, just as they did with this illegal immigrant bill they are trying to pass. Vote out incumbents that will not work for legal Americans. Let your congressmen/ women, know that you will be voting against them if they pass this bill and if they don't start working for legal Americans. Did you know that in some places in Texas illegals are actually voting. They were caught when they showed as registered voter for jury duty. Demand our congress uphold our constitution.
