I am nine years prior enlisted and am interested in going back in. I am 30 years old right now and will get a Bachelors in zoology in a year and a half (Right before I turn 32). I am looking at the two year ROTC program and OTS as a second option.

Positives:
1) I have never had any legal or credit problems
2) Excellent Health
3) Never had any diciplinary action taken me while in the military
4) My EPRS were an even balance of 4s and 5s over my career.
5) I never married. No children or dependents.

Negatives
1) I seperated with a reenlistment code of 3 because I turned down an assignment. I couldn't make E-5 (SSgt) because of that, so I got out as an E-4 (SrA).
2) My GPA is kinda weak 2.57
3) My age and a nontechnical degree

I've heard the AF is the hardest to reenter, regardless of reentry code. I wish you the best of luck.

BUT... with a B.S., you might want to consider looking at OCS in the Army. I deal with a lot of OCS candidates that are prior service from all of the other branches. I'm just giving you another option... not recruiting for the Army. hehe

Don't think you could get in OTS due to your age and non-tech degree and GPA. You can apply after you graduate, they have cut these slots back alot. Ive seen the list and most are currently serving in the AF. Not sure how many names were on the list...less than 100 maybe less than 60 for the year.

As for ROTC you mentioned you have less than two years to graduate, is this enough time to join ROTC and get a commission?

Im in the Air Force reserve now, just hit 4 year mark and due for SSgt June 1...Ive been activated prob over 3 years including BMT and cop tech school and contengency operations. The Active Duty Air Force is force shaping like crazy, sheading officers and enlisted quickly and for any problems.

Not sure the Air Force is looking to take on more 32 yo officers with non tech degrees when they have many they are trying to get rid of.

You would have a better chance if you were younger than 28 and trying to get a rated position...but Im 39 today so youre still young.

Doesnt hurt to contact the ROTC at your school, but good luck

AF is not taking any prior service at this time, not even their own. Your best bet is probably Army Commissioning. Navy you are not competetive due to your degree and GPA.

If you were 9 years prior service than you should know the answer to this question but contact the organization on the qualifications and they will let you know
