Jesus called them "Whitewashed tombs." The Jewish people would wash the grave stones to make them sparkle clean and bright, but inside the grave the truth lay dark and damp with a body dead, full of decay.
Jesus called them whitewashed tombs, because seemingly 'holy' people were pretending to be believers. The scary part is that they most likely had themselves fooled too.
Their hearts (inside) were not clean and pure as their robes and long tassles fooled others into believing. Jesus called them out as only Jesus can, because only He can see into the hearts of man.
These were harsh words from Jesus and rightly so. Likewise today, those who dare to wear the cloak of Christianity and represent Jesus' name, His teachings and His life had better do it the way He did, no more and no less.
However, Praise God that we believers are a work in progress, and that He is faithful to finish the good work He has begun in us, (Those who truly seek His face). Only God can see into the grave. Only God can see into the hearts of men.
Additional thought: It is my prayer that as a professed believer in all that Jesus taught, no more and no less, that I would live a life of full surrender that He would shape me according to His intentions and purpose and that I would be found worthy to be called His for all eternity.

Yes, he was considered to be a major threat to the establishment of his time as was Martin Luther King in ours....the nineteen sixties.... or as Ghandi in India in the nineteen fifties. Jesus was tolerant ov all.....Jesus forgave everyone, Mary Magdalene and even a Roman soldier. Jesus was rapidly converting people to his new view of life, God, the scriptures and the world. The final straw for those Jews in power was that Jesus claimed to be the son of God, and in Jewish thinking, that was blasphemy punishable by death. So the Jews demanded of the Romans to have Jesus killed to end the threat of his overwhelming popular appeal. Readers out there may not believe in Jesus or God but one almost has to believe that Jesus was the greatest miracle humanitarian that ever lived, both spiritually and politically.

A hypocrite is someone who professes to be a Christian, but doesn't try to live as a Christian. Unfortunately, there are many today who fall into this category.
Those who claim to be Christians must, I say again, must live every waking hour as a Christian. You can't be a part-time Christian. Either you are, or you aren't. That is made very clear. Jesus said that he will "spew" or "spit" out the luke warm. A literal translation would be the use of the word "vomit". Lukewarmness makes Him sick.
Of course, God knows that none of us can be perfect. But effort does count!
Do your best, and God will give you His.

There is no such thing as a perfect Christian. We are all sinners. We are all to repent of our sins daily. We are also to do our very best to try to imporve on ourselves through the daily reading of God's Word in the Holy Bible, and apply it to our daily lives.
Jesus was crucified because it was part of God's plan of salvation for us. Jesus was the Lamb of God that covered all of our sins, so we don't have to sacrifice lambs to this day every year to cover the sins of our family, one year at a time. Jesus did the hard part, and through our selfishness, we still refuse to accept Him, and what He did for us.
We still refuse to attempt to obey Him, study His Word, or even try to apply it to our daily lives. We all make excuses as to why we can't. There's the hypocracy! Saying how much you love the Lord, yet not enough to study His Word daily and apply it to your life.
These are the words of God...
Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Did you read this part??? " But he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven".
Hebrews 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
Watch how you use that word hypocrite. watch where you point the finger of judgement. Concentrat on yourself more, so you can be a true "living Bible" for others to see what a real Christian looks like, the way Jesus was when He walked among us in the flesh. Jesus was the Word of God come to us in the flesh.
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Actually they wanted Christ crucified because He threatened their way of life. Their political power. Hence the comment,"We have no king but Caesar." When they should have said,"We have no king but God."

They wanted to crucify him because they felt that since he equated himself with God he was a blasphemer.
Mat 26:63 But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God. 64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. 65 Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy. 66 What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.
So, your premise is off.

Pharisees and other Jews, didn't use crucifiction as an execution method ... the Romans did.
The problem with the Pharisees was not their hypocracy, but that they stuck closed mindedly to teachings that He'd disproven

I think I have been pretty tolerant of your really provocative questions.
And it is Christian-not "Christian".
