I am 38 years old (divorced/no kids) and am dating a 25 year old guy (divorced/2 kids). He is very mature for his age and he has no problem with our 13 year age difference. We want to get married later this year but I worry that the age difference will be an issue years down the road. It just seems weird for the female to be older. Anyone had any experience with this?

Not a problem if you want another kid to raise (him) and he most likely will want his own kids some day he may say differently now but what does he know and the clock is ticking for you.

After the age of 25, I tend to think that an age diffrence is no biggie. My mother was 35(divorced w/2 kids) and married a 23 year old man. There never was an age issue, even many many years into the relationship.
I tell anyone who is thinking of getting married the same thing:
Take your time, love will last if it is true. If you have any reservations,...wait, be sure. Be great friends with your love b4 u marry.
Good luck to you sweetie!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been in this kind of a relationship before. As a matter of fact I am just about to hop into another but have only just stopped myself because I need lots of soul searching this time. My experience is that usually the man needs mothering. He might think that he is all mature for you but there are instances he will expect you to step up on issues because you are 'older'. Like money issues. Or when he is all sulky and you are supposed to 'understand'-coz you are older and have been there etc. My advice, apart from the very sweet nature of the relationship (younger usually means more attention, trying to spoil you coz he has got to prove to be better than the older ones bla bla), there always comes a time when you need to talk to someone at your level, with your kind of experience on issues that you can probably debate over. On such days, be ready to be embarrassed-more often than not. Tread very carefully, a woman's instincts are usually not wrong. you know the man better. Will he always be there for you? Even when you do not make sense to him? It is a sweet set up but highly marshy. But what do I know?

There is nothing wrong with it I am 22 and i am engaged to a 37 year old I love her dearly and would give the world for her! As far as further down the road... I figure I will still die before her because of the differences in our lifestyles and besides women usually out live men anyway. Honestly, as long as she still has a sex drive I wont even consider another woman.

My boyfriend is 23. His brother is 28. His father is 49 and married a woman who is 29 and they have a 1-year-old together. They seem to be happy, but could you imagine having a step-mother who is only a year (or, in my boyfriend's case, 4 years) older than you?
It's a very awkward situation and I advice against it very strongly.

It's not as odd as it used to be, and there are more and more older women dating younger men today. It mostly depends on expectations of both parties and the interests of both. If you're not into the modern music scene and he is; if you are fairly well situated in your job and he is struggling to get up the ladder to success; If he's into running the bars and you're the stay at home type; these are all signals that things may not be well in such a relationship.

I don't think age has a differance when it involves love. I know a couple with the female older then the male that recently got married. I would say if you know for sure marry him.

I have had several friends with the same situation. I think as long as you two are happy there should be no problem. Believe me you can't listen to what others say about it. If it works out, in 10 years you won't remember who said those things anyway!!! Good Luck

Age only matters if you make it matter. My sister is older than her husband and they celebrated their 30th recently. Physically women age slower than men anyway; and they also take better care of themselves. Go to any elderly care facility and the population is about 90% female as the men usually work themselves to death and leave the money to the women. Seems fair.
