my son also has eczema. for him we use Vaseline Creamy. it is a thick cream with 30% Vaseline in it. it works well to keep it under control. a home remedy you can try for severe breakouts is to mix Vaseline with corn starch. it will take a tonne of mixing, but make a paste and put it on before bedtime. the mixture can be stored for about a month in a sealed container.
if the eczema is super itchy, mix 1/2 Maalox liquid with 1/2 benadryl (allergy medicine). use a cotton ball to apply it to the area. this will bring down the swelling and help get rid of the itch!

good luck!!!

I had eczema as a kid and I still have quite sensitive skin. As a child I used cortizone creams.Whenever I have skin allergies now I use stuff called Betnovate which comes in liquid and cream form. If you haven't already tried it, ask your doctor about it. I'm not sure if its suitable for kids. Also, I've been told that you should wrap some oatmeal in a muslin cloth and put it in a bath of warm water and soak in it for a while.

You can break Vitamin E geltabs and rub into the affected areas but only a prescription helps with Eczema/Psoriasis. Also, gels and creams made from herbal extracts of chamomile, licorice, and witch hazel have been explored to reduce symptoms of eczema. The following are results of some of the preliminary studies.

I had a friend who used vegetable oil on her son who had eczema. It's natural, so not putting chemicals into the body, and really helped a lot.

Tar soap helped my daughter. And an old fashioned lotion the pharmacist made up, it was rose water and some cortisone. Also, what is the child eating? Many times food allergies manifest as eczema.

I also had exzema the resisted all pescribed medicines, and tips I tried. I read about Emu Oil
availalable at Health Food Stores and over the interenet. It finally cleared my rashes up and I just use it daily now and it's never returned. Best of luck!
