Liking Gordon and Jr at don't have to be exclusive of one another. I'm a Gordon fan, and I have no problem with Jr. Dale Sr was a friend to Gordon. Took him under his wing and taught him how to race like a NASCAR pro. Jr has no problem with Gordon. Considers him a friend. You never see either of these guys going after each other on or off the track. There is a ton of mutual respect there. Both guys are classy, charitable, accountable, and respectable. Sure, they both whine from time to time, but find a top-tier driver who doesn't.
The numbers say Gordon is the better driver. If the two teamed up, I think it would make Jr a better driver than he is right now. The fan base would remain the same for each driver. I don't think people root for teams as much as they root for drivers. Honestly, I could care less if Jimmy Johnson wins a race. I don't care about the owners championship. I don't see a lot a Hendrick Motorsports t-shirts out there. We root for drivers. Jr will always have a significant fan base no matter what. Same with Gordon.

Even though this is only theoretical.Yes I would, hell even Sr. drove a few cars for Hendrick(saw this in a picture at Hendrick). I really have no problem with Jeff Gordon, except the whining, but man can he drive(besides if I had a problem with Gordon my wife would never let me get into bed) the way he won at Darlington was gutsy (If I blow it up, I blow it up, I'm going for the win). Jr wants to win races, and Hendrick would be the place to go for that. Ok Jimmie Johnson irks me but still. But it makes you wonder what will happen when Rick Hendrick gets tired of Kyle Busch being an idiot. BTW regarding several posts on this thread, can't you come up with something more creative than Jeff Gordon's a f*g? Thanks for making the rest of us Jr. fans look like a bunch of uneducated idiots(is it any wonder I can't stand rednecks)

Can you imagine the selling power that Hendrick will have with 3 of the most popular drivers of the day and at least 2 will make it to the all time list ... I might not be a Gordon fan but I am not going to stop being a Jr fan just because of a teammate. I am going to leave that to the bandwagon fans...

To those who point to the recent Rick Hendrick interview as proof positive that HMS will not attempt to bring Jr. on board, re-read the quote from Mr. Hendrick:
"Right now, I'm full."
That's "right now", as in, not necessarily at the end of the season.
Hendrick is, first and foremost, a very shrewd businessman, and I think he will definitely be a player for Jr.'s services. Reading the interview, it seems to me that Kyle busch is the odd man out. Mears' past friendship with Hendrick's late son will keep him in the 25, and I am predicting that Busch will be out of a ride by the end of the season. By Daytona, we will see the Hendrick stable consisting of the 24, 48, 25 and (after some boardroom NASCAR politics) the Budweiser-sponsored #8.

Junior will not be Gordon's teammate because there is no room for him at Hendricks. However, if the planets aligned and mystical powers in NASCAR somehow put them together in the future, Junior would keep his fans. In fact, it would probably give him more fans and make the already Jr. fans hate Gordon even more somehow. I don't think we have anything to worry about though.

My Step-son is a huge Junior Fan and he likes Jeff Gordon as well. He keeps praying Junior will be with Hendricks. He was heartbroken when he heard Rick Hendrick say that the Hendrick stable was too full to have Junior onboard.

I would become a fan if Dale Jr. joined Hendricks. It would be some interesting racing if he joined Hendricks. Would hate to see Kyle or Casey leave though.
Go Jimmie #48.

Rick Hendrick said yesterday that there is no room at HMS for Junior as all their drivers and sponsors are under contract and 4 is maximum number of teams an owner can run. Junior and Jeff will not be together in 2008. I think that Junior would keep his fans regardless of whom his teammate is.

Dale Jr could still end up at Hendrick, Kyle Busch's contract is up at the end of next year. Maybe the cut Shrub loose and send him to DEI next year to drive the 8.
