Things in my life are horrible, I have been looking for a job for almost 4 months, I cant seem to hold a relationship, I have no friends or anyone to turn too. Now I am slipping into depression. I was fine two days ago, but how long can you kid your self? Try so hard to stay positive and keep myself busy, but I am slowly losing interests. Dont say I should go to the doctor because you need to have insurance to do so and I dont want to pop any drugs.

I see the doctor has a lot of products now, but long ago, all he had was the book "Feeling Good Handbook" and it was very helpful.

The approach is cognitive - it helps you attack the thoughts that cause depression.

Also, in the book - the road less travelled, by Peck, he notes that depression is a normal cycling in the human adult. he argues that we become depressed in times when we need to grow. the depression serves as the catalyst for growth. if we stay introspective and demand the best of ourselves. otherwise, we slipslide away. and end up needing meds.

also, force yourself to at least take a walk every day, improve your nutrition, stop drinking. volunteer to help others. you have time, and you'll meet people, and get contacts.

You have to stay positive! It's very hard to be motivated everyday, but even on those days that you can't be motivated you have to fake it. Try your best to believe in yourself and picture yourself with a job, friends, and a partner. Things will work out! Also.. try reading the book "The Secret". It just might be what you are looking for...

take up a hobby or go on a trip to get away from it all...
when u come back u will surely get a better view of whats going on and u will think clearly what u have to do from now on!!
just don't lose ur head and keep thinking positive!

you must start doing physical exercise
