My cousin was a facialist at the Elizabeth Arden spa in Arizona. She was tipped consistently.
I asked my massage therapist about the question. She said some therapists don't like tipping as they consider themselves professionals and they think it devalues their work, while others enjoy the thoughtfullness involved with a tip.
Personally, I tip my massage therapist. I figure I'd rather offend them WITH a tip than without one.
You could call the spa you're going to attend and ask them what their policy is on tipping. Some spas prohibit tips.

Yes, you should tip 15% for good service. Remember that if you had a gift certificate, to tip 15% of what it would have cost you if you were paying. A tip should reflect the quality of service you were provided. Also make sure when receiving your massage that you communicate with the masseur. If he is doing it too hard or soft, just let him know. Make sure you communicate any particular areas of interest you want him to work longer on.
You may give the tip directly to the service provider or give it to the front desk with instructions to apss it to whoever massaged you.
If you received substandard service, talk with the service provider and/or the manager of the salon. Leave a tip that you feel is indicative of the service being provided. If you plan on returning to that particular salon, make sure you request another masseur on your next visit.

You are supposed to tip people. I consider it as a sign of appreciation for the the service that they have rendered. A warm smile and a "Thank you!" will top it off.
The general rule is to give 15% tip of the total amount of service. But if you are truly satisfied, then you can make it 18%.
I usually give the facialist or the masseuse a 20% tip.

ONLY if u feel the service was better than it could have been. I mean, if u felt that they went out of their way to make u feel comfortable. I feel guilty about tipping. I always tip. I have to stop. My fiance only tips when he gets good service. But if someone did go out of their way for him (or us) he will be very generous with the tip.

Yes, unless it is the owner. I usually tip about 20% of the price of the service.

Only if the service is worth a tip. And you don't tip the owner.

It would depend on the spa's policy. If the policy allows it and the message was relaxing.

Oh, yes you must tip them, unless they are an owner in the company. I was a hairdresser, nail tech for years, and it is custom to tip for services.
