NASA has found several indications that Mars once had water on it. I'm betting next they'll find a alien civilization that once thrived, but because they were unable to stop using their flying saucers, and they didn't buy enough carbon credits, they created a catastrophic environmental change which wiped them out.
So if the Aliens couldn't figure it out, what chance do we have?

Oh, you have it wrong. The Aliens are causing global warming. Over the last 100 years the evil aliens have raised the global temperature 0.7 ^oC. Their evil plan is so sneaky that until 1972, we thought we were experiencing global cooling. We can't hope to overcome such devious opponents. Our only hope is to pass needless restrictions on CO2 in an effort to destroy our economic and technological advancement, which will make us seem too stupid for the aliens to bother conquering.

How do we really know that here is a "Global: warming?? How far back do our weather records go?/ More or less than 100 years?? How hot or cold was it 200 or 300 years ago?? How about 2 or 3 thousand years ago?? Heck at the first Earth Day, just 30 years ago there were signs warning of the coming Ice Age. Isn't it amazing how in such a short period of time, the Earth has changed so much? I really wonder if we are not being sold a bill of goods.
Not all of the scientific world believe in "Global" warming.

We already have the technologies to curb global warming significantly, below a certain danger point, but we still do nothing about it. Therefore, even if aliens showed up and provided new technologies, it is human nature to ignore the sustainable power or fuel or whatever, in favour of gas powered things, because it costs more.

There is no such thing as global warming. Remember in the 70's everyone was talking about an ice age? Look it up, everyone is just freaking out about nothing.

I think it's very unlikely there was an advanced civilization on Mars. Globarl warming will deal with us, not the other way around.
