Is such a decision the Christ in you speaking, or your ego's desire for petty revenge?

I do not seek aid for myself. I seek aid for a Christian.

How many of you wish to exact vengeance against me for my questions by denying -her- your assistance?

The fact that you put the ".." marks around the word Christian is very appropriate because anybody that would let something like that happen if they had the opportunity to stop it could not be considered a true Christian. Jesus said to love thy enemies and he healed one of the soldiers who came to arrest him before his death when his ear was cut by one of the apostles.

The decision is the Christ in them speaking, if the decision is selfless and alturistic, and the ego's desire for petty revenge if they're in their "flesh" and are trying to posit something that isn't right. Vengenace is the Lords, not ours, so Christians should never try to get retribution for anything that good living can't ultimately provide at the end of the day.

As far as seeking aid for a Christian, instead of yourself, make sure that you are a Christian yourself before doing that, because a Christian can't save you, only Jesus himself. A Christian doesn't have a heaven or hell to put you in, only God does, so get yourself right before worrying about what the Christians are doing.

Some would even go as far as to say that you aren't a Christian at that moment that you are seeking revenge, retribution, or are otherwise indifferent, as some believe that when your priorities involve living for yourself, instead of God, that you've forsaken Christianity for that interim. Personally I tend to believe that God doesn't change, and neither would the fact of your being a Chrisitian - in other words, you may not see me as a Christian, becuase you disagree with my politics, but it is truly between me and God if I am to begin with. At the same time, if I say that I am, I have that responsibility towards you to do the right thing, as anything different, is offensive, which is its own sin.

Read the word for yourself and come to your own conclusions as to what is right and wrong because quite honestly, it doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks on the matter.

No I wouldn't let anyone drown regardless of how I felt about them.

You ask some pretty divisive questions.

As with any group of people who belong to a group there are certain members who take it to the extremes but that isn't fair to say it is a trait shared by all when such a small minority posses it.

If I could make a change and save a baby from drowning I would. That is as crazy as asking me if I would take my son to the hospital if he was bleeding to death. The answer would be, I would speed through every red light and get their as quickly as I possibly could.

Having faith doesn't make you vainsh the idea that praying for the child to be ok will happen. It would be cold hearted to stand there and watch anyone drown. Jump in and save the baby and then pray it will be ok.

What?? I am Christian, and my religion, or any other's religion, does not influence whether or not I hold myself responsible to a child's life or an adult's, for that matter. That, my ethics, morals, and values that I hold toward life, is a part of my instinctual character. I go over and pull the child out of the water! I don't ask questions. Did you get up on the wrong side of the bed this morning? Did you skip your morning meds?

I would never let a baby drown just because I did not like the person that was asking for help. That would be wrong if someone did that.

This is absurd, there is nothing in the teachings of Jesus that promotes ego, or revenge.

Quite the opposite.

We give assistance even to those that hate us, why would we not give assistance to a child? I would give you assistance.

Vengeance and Hate are not part of being a Christian.

Peace!

Very strange question--seems totally hypothetical, but it's hard to see where you need help...
Naturally I would save the child, regardless of my personal feelings for the parent. Even in this very selfish day and age I'm confident that MOST people would--at heart most of us are good, and would not stand idly by and permit a baby--or person of any age--to drown.
This question seems very deceitful somehow...

What?!?!

Christian (which I am) or not, what human being would stand by and let a baby drown? And why are you calling for help instead of trying to save the child yourself?

Even if I did not like the person calling for help. I would help them. I have done so in the past and if need be I will do so in the future.
Would you like to be abandoned, when you need help, by someone just because they don't like you?
I like to think that if you give help when it's wanted: Then hopefully it's there when needed.
