Hi well I translate and always have some difficulties with fishes, birds and berries...
Anyway the best is passing through Academic dictionaries, often latin, or explaining too what is the terminology.
Hence:
Jaquetón is a Great White Shark
&
Róbalo is a Sea bass
Jaquetón is the aumentative of jaque which means bully, cocky or braggart
Large white shark similar to the Marrajo with 1/4 moon shaped fin, can reach 6-8 meters in length, flat triangular teeth with serrated or sawed borders, grey white colour, can be found in all the seas & due to its size and agresivity is considered the most dangerous sharks known.
Róbalo and Robaliza (female of robalo larger and more clear color) = Sea bass
Metathesis of *lobarro, from lobo = wolf
1. m. Teleóstean fish of the acantopterigian suborder 70 - 89 cm long, oblated body, pointy head, large mouth, small sharp teeth, blue black back, white belly, 2 fins on each loin and straight tail. Can be found in seas around Spain and its meat is very apreciated.
I can´t remember all nowbut I know that while Róbalo or Robalo is the usual name we use in the Cantabric and Atlantic coast on some mediterranrean areas they call the Róbalo - Lubina and other names.
