Eat shrimp and condemn homosexuals and atheists to hell, and you'll be fine. No Bible reading required!

Oh Jelly my dear one, that is a loaded question, is it not? If you were indeed thinking of converting to Christianity and wondering about which parts of the Bible might be more helpful than other parts, I would remind you that the Bible is a book written by men that I believe is a guide to love and happiness just like any other book that is written as a guide to love and happiness. I would say that you should look for what ever makes you feel good and leave the parts that don't make you feel good alone. I would give you the same advice for reading any self help book designed to bring insight and enlightenment to your life.

None of it should be ignored. However, the laws in the Old Testament don't all need to be followed any more, unless they're specifically mentioned in the New Testament. That's what I believe, anyway.

But the Old Testament is there for history, and for prophecy. The Psalms contain some of the most beautiful passages in the whole Bible, and the Proverbs contain much wisdom. As a matter of fact, many of the Proverbs are still used today!

So ignore none of it. Decide for yourself, between you and God, what should be followed. Ask God for wisdom, and discernment.

Use the Bible as a reference tool but study the original Hebrew and Greek Scriptures. That's the only way to know the truth. The collection of writings that we call the Bible was compiled by men with their own prejudices, biases and political agendas. There are astounding differences between what's in the Bible and what the original Scriptures teach.

Converting to Christianity from which other denomination?

All the Bible is the Word of God, a love letter from God to us.
From the very beginning God, who is love, made us in His image and likeness, so that we could know Him.

Maybe you will find it easier to start with the Psalms; or with the New Testament, then go back to read the rest of the Bible.
In any case the Bible should be read from cover to cover to discover the Love that God has for you.

I believe that if you were to write a letter to me about you, who you are, what you like or dislike etc, and I would read only the last 2 lines, or just the lines in the middle, chances are I would not be able to know much about you; or if I would ignore some parts of your letter.......you would not be happy about it.

God bless, Shiro

Follow the New Testament because it is the New Covenant, but remember that the Old Testament was written for the Jew, and it has much to learn from.

The ten commandments are in the Old Testament, and should not be ignored, but again was written to be a tutor to the Jews.

Jesus came to fulfill the portions of the Old Testament that pointed to the Messiah which includes the feast days and the blood sacrifices.

Paul says that we should not obey the law because it is the law, but because we have faith in the law giver.

ALL OR NONE, BUT be very careful who you have helping you. Spiritual Ignorance abounds in today's world by the ones in it that think that they have ALL the answers. The FIRST thing you should do is GET a Strong's Concordance and take the Word of god BACK to the Original Texts to help you understand the CORRECT Meaning of that Holy Word. Any help I can give I will, just let me know as I am only an email away.

The first thing I would do as with anything is to start from the first page. Read Genesis! Learn about God's plan from the start and follow along until you reach the New Testament then you can see how it was all fulfilled in Jesus.

Go Church shopping. Visit different churches and do some research on them to see which one you'd like to follow. It would help if you have some different Christian friends who can take you to their churches and answer your questions.

If not then go talk to priests and pastors and deacons of various churches.

email me I would be happy to tell you about my faith as a Catholic!

Follow all of the Bible! But use an easy to understand version like the NIV maybe. The King James version is like reading Shakespeare.

2 Timothy 3: 16, 17 says "All scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, that the man of god may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work" So the answer is all of it. None is to be ignored.

1. Discern the difference between Bible and scripture. (The Bible has additions to scripture currently here in USA).
2. Read all of the scripture as and when you deem it appropriate. (The sooner the better).
