If there is only a couple of hours left of my working hours or if it would take me more time to get to work than I'd actually spend at work that day I'd rather skip it. Once after some tests at the hospital it just didn't seem worth it to spend three hours on the train to get to and from work in order to be for two hours at work doing something that could just as well get done the day after.

I'm not a "no call no show" type of person. If I can't make it to work I always phone to let them know. The day that I don't call and don't show up at work I'm either dead, unconscious, stuck out in the wild without a phone or in some sort of captivity. ;)

No call could end up meaning "no job". If I were a manager and someone didnt call and didn't show up, I would be concerned that maybe they got in an accident on the way to work or had some kind of family emergency. Once I found out there was no emergency, I would write them up. If they did it again, I'd fire them.

It's very rude and inconsiderate in ANY situation where you are expected to show up at a particular time and you don't. If you don't show at ALL and don't let someone know, that's even more rude.
What that says about you is that you think your time is more important that anyone elses and you think that you are above letting anyone know what's going on.

Better to be late (you can have an excuse for that) than to just not show up (no excuse for not calling).

The only time I would decide to just skip work cus I am running late, is if I have already missed at least half of my shift. One or two hours isn't that big a deal. And the only time I was ever a no call no show, was when I was quitting the job.

I would never do the no call no show thing. If I was so late that it was no longer worth it for me to bother going in, then I would call with a really good excuse about why I'm not there.

Never too late unless it's only 3 hours to closing time. You must call.

It isn't worth it to try. They'd send the police to the house if I tried to duck out, so there's no point, though there are days I wish I could.

never. There is no excuse for no call no show! It shows your boss that you dont care if you have a job, dont care about respecting your co-workers,and you dont respect your boss enough to call and say you are going to be absent....
