You file Form 1040X. One column shows the numbers from the original return, which you can just copy from your original return. The other column shows the corrected numbers. You need to figure these numbers, by filling out a new 1040 with the added dependent.
You do not file the new 1040 with the 1040X. But you must attach any schedules that were used or changed for the amended return. In particular, if you claimed the EIC, or Child and Dependent Care attach those forms. Mail the return.
All forms can be printed from irs.gov.
If you filed a state return, you will need to amend the state return as well. Print out forms from your state website.

Go to IRS.GOV or call on the toll free forms order line in your phone book. Just get a form 1040X and fill it out; very simple. Make sure you get a form 1040 instruction booklet so you have the various credit and tax tables so you can plug in the right amounts. You simply add the dependent on the amended form and take the $ 1,000.00 child tax credit; and if you are elligible; the EIC. It is quite simple, if you have any specific questions don't hesitate to ask me as I've worked on the IRS VITA (volunteer income tax assistance) program for 36 years and I have literally done thousands of returns of all types.

except which would be your finished earnings for the 300 and sixty 5 days, this answer in all fairness ineffective to you - even then it would not be precise. yet considering the fact which you ask, federal earnings tax for a single person in 2006 with a TAXABLE earnings of $18,439 replaced into $2386.

Use form 1040X. You can downloan the form and the instructions at irs.gov
Make out a new, corrected tax return including the child. and lay the original and new one side by side - that will be the easiest way to fill out the form.

You will need to file a 1040X showing the tax return as originally filed and the tax return as corrected, and also a corrected 1040 and any other changed schedules showing the corrected information. You can't e-file a 1040X so it will need to be paper filed with the IRS.

You should have gotten a card right away and waited to file until you had it. Now the only thing I would know to do is contact H&R block or someone and ask them to file an amended return. I'm not sure if you can do it now; you may have to wait until next year.
