Contact Microsoft Support and see if they will replace the disk for you.

I ALWAYS make a backup copy of my OS disks for that specific reason.

Years ago I had a copy of Norton Systemworks that would go through about 95% of the install process and then quit. I couldn't figure it out. Then on an impulse I held the disk up to a light and found two little pinholes in the metalization of the disk. They prevented the install from completing. Since then I always make a copy of any software that I can't download.

Check with Microsoft. You may find they will replace it for a nominal price.

I hope this helps for the future.

The product code is specific to a version of XP... so you need to make sure you get a compatible copy.

You can find .iso images of XP... from which you can burn your own CD. They may or may not be hacked... because they tend to be offered as pirate software.

Or you find people selling Xp disks without keys on eBay for not a lot of money... so you can buy a replacement pressed disk.

Not sure the license allows you to sell the media / buy and use a copy from somewhere else though.
