Would you approve of legislation that authorizes the state of Alaska to lease portions of the North Slope coastal region, including an area known as the Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge, for the purpose of oil recovery?

In an attempt to gain spiritual perspective of this debate, I have directed this question to religious Americans.

No.
We have vast amounts of technology's that can be used that the Big Auto makers have in secret vauts such as fuel injector systems that can make a .454 Cub in engine get 100 mpg but we wont see it, because they believe it will collapse the ecomomy, it is a bunch of bull.
We have transmission systems that have been invented that can enable a car to be powered by engines as small as a lawn mower engine, but we won't see it.
We don't need more oil, we need for these technologies to be released.

I don't believe this is a federal decision, I believe this should be left up to the people of Alaska. However if I was an Alaskan I would be hesitant to allow drilling there, unless there was excellent proof that drilling could be done without seriously effecting the wildlife.

Yes, I am for it, But stop & think also, in the 1970's we were told that we are running out of fuel, So they raise the price of gas, 35 yrs later we are pumping more oil then before. I am not afraid about running out of fuel. In the Milliennium, God will slowly bring this planet back to as it was at the beginning. This planet is also to be redeemed.

What does this have to do with religion?
Anyway, it doesn't matter what they do.
The future holds a paradise for the earth, and those that are meek enough to inherit it.
Mat 5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
2Pe 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
Psa 37:11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

From what i know, it's a relatively small portion of land. If we do this, it would relieve a lot of the strain we are feeling with the gas prices.

Since it is only portions, yes I would. What does being religious have to do with it?

Yes. I think most can be done safely, and w/o harm to the enviroment. It may prevent war, too.

I think we should kill everything in sight so that we can make some extra profits for oil!

No, I would not approve of this idea.
We need to improve the use of the materials we have, not grab new ones.
