And then promptly ended our friendship when I explained that I couldn't find something I don't believe exists.
Whatever happened to "Judge not let ye be judged?" "Do unto others?" and "Turn the other cheek?"
I'm not trying to insult anyone here, this happened only yesterday.

Should be "Judge not lest ye be judged." Pardon my typo's, it's early.

Justentucker...this was a longterm friendship. The request came way out from left field, I don't understand it.

For those who even care, I spent a great portion of my life as a Christian.

We do not find God as your ex-friend suggested, God comes to us when we seek Him with a humble heart, and it can take a lifetime for some to come to this humble state of heart, I wonder if your friend ``found`` God in one minute?

How would you feel if you asked her to imagine there was no God, just perhaps so she could understand your point of view, and without even trying or entertaining the possibility, she said, "I can't go there; it's not what I believe"?
I'm not saying you wouldn't be fine with it; maybe you would. But I imagine that for her, she was trying to share something of great importance to her, with a person of great importance in her life (you), and you weren't willing to entertain the thought for even a minute.
My guess is that she will be back in time; she's hurt by your reaction and probably feels kind of a sense of loss; she believes that she will be spending eternity in heaven, and that you, her friend, won't. And it won't be because she judged you or rejected you. Again, it's just my guess. Best wishes.

Heck, it has taken me longer to find my car keys than a minute. I'm guessing that this friend was just a casual or new friend. If that is the case I'd just let it go. If it was a long time friend that 'just found god', that is another story. I have friends that are religious and those that are not. The ones that are respect that I'm not. Or - you could always sneak to your friends house late at night and put a Darwin Fish on the back of her car - just a thought.

It doesn't matter.(period) If she is a Christian, God will judge her heart. Maybe she doesn't want to be "unequally yoked" or something to that effect. The two laws you mentioned in your question are awesome and should be followed, but you are judging HER just by saying that! The problem is, you do not know Christ and will be therefore judged by YOUR deeds. She knows Christ, and will not be judged by her deeds. God Bless!

i dont think your friend is a mature christian. anyway, hope you search for more than 1 minute, and if you do serach genuinly with a humble heart, i am 100% sure you will find Him.
i think its worth a try..to describe it, i think its like an orphan finally finding their parents, only multiply that by a million..That is how much you will be filled with love and peace.

Your friend had this lovely little dream of converting you and being able to "confess" humbly to her church group how she led you to Christ.
You've shattered her perfectly little thought out vision by smacking her in the face with reality, now she's hurt and upset that her dreams are so much dust in the wind.
She'll get over it eventually lol ... let her grow up a bit eh?

strange that your friend ended your friendship. that really wasn't a loving thing to do. a good, Christian friend would still love you even if you disagree with them. i know i would! but that is so sad that your friendship ended. by the way, your friend should know that it is God who finds you! i hope you will know Him someday!!

She probably at least wanted you to give it a real try. She cares about you and doesn't want you to end up in hell. That's all. She will probably come around, she's probably just frustrated by your response. Give her time things will probably work out for your friendship.

You didn't even make an attempt to find God, because you knew, didn't you? You can never find something you don't believe exists. You have no authority to use Scripture in this instance. You don't even believe in it.

Judge not let ye be judge??? Tell me how this is even remotely applicable to this?
They werent asking you to commit to the faith or judge you at all, they simply asked that you spend 60 seconds to try something that they find meaningful.
