I was hit by a speeding car when I was 14, now, almost 8 years on I am still feeling the effects. At the time, by back took quite a heavy knock, with muscles in my neck being heavily damaged, which the doctors told me could of caused my neck to be pulled more on one side than the other. Ever since, I have had severe pains all the way down my back, particularly just where my low back meets my pelvis, and my neck. I have been to chiropractors, tried electro-therepy to stimulate the muscles, and at the advice of one doctor even massage. None of this helps, and now I have an office job which involves sitting infront of a computer for 80% of the day, so my discomfort is made worse, however I do believe I sit with a good posture.
I refuse to take pain killers, and just want any advice on anything else that somebody could suggest... magic ideas? Fairy dust? Anything...

Purchase a good back support for your chair and also have a cushion on your chair. This is going to help support your back and relieve some of the pressure on you. At lunchtime place an ice pack on your back for fifteen minutes. If you can do this laying down it would give a break for your muscles as well as numbing the pain. You may want to do this several times a day.

it's important to take frequent breaks throughout the day as you sit at your desk. Usually about every half hour. Just for a few minutes. I've enclosed a link that has desk exercises to help you make it through the day.

I have what I think is great advice for you.....
NO MORE CHIROPRACTORS!! You need a neurologist.
You have long standing nerve damage and a chiropractor cannot help that on their best day. They should have told you that, but most don't. See a neurologist and if you are not open to any medication then they may be able to give you other options. I must say though, I have/had severe nerve damage, and I was put on a medication called Lyrica, the first couple of weeks were an adjustment and I was a little groggy, but after that back to normal and my symptoms have subsided tremendously.
But if none of that advice sounds good, I say go for the Fairy Dust!!!!!!!!! :)

try yoga..i know it usually is done by us strange people but really, it helps; look up different yoga poses and make sure you breathe right while you do them .doing the poses in a warm room also relaxes your muscles even more. i had low back pain for the longest time after my 11 pd boy and now i am pain free thanks to my yoga every morning...sometimes i even just do it 3x a week and find that it still helps

I suggest revisiting massage therapy again but find someone who specializes in Neuromuscular Therapy.
