Some people believe that he travelled throughout Middle Asia and Asia. Some people speculated further by entertaining the possibility of Jesus sharing ideas with Buddhists and Hindus.

I really don't have personal theories but I would believe he kept himself busy by mastering carpentry skills. And like any normal human being, he took time to come to terms with God's will for him.

I don't know, but Vancouver Fringe last year had a great show called "Jesus, the Lost Years" that filled in the gap. They had him doing everything from faking miracles for John the Baptist, to going into space and meeting aliens. It was awesome.

But what did he actually do?

Nothing. These were the years he was in his teens and his 20s. Most people don't do anything of note in their teens or their 20s. He probably mucked around, spent a lot of time angsting about what he was going to do with his life, swore about what the Roman government was doing, got fed up with his parents, probably left the family business for a while didn't make anything else work and came back to it with grim resignation, had a few romances that didn't go anywhere and drank too much wine. Just at a guess, on the basis of a broad sample of men under 30.

It's fairly likely that he travelled at some point, but there weren't many opportunities for backpacking around China in ancient Roman times. If we was lucky, he got to see some of the rest of the Empire, maybe Asia province - ie modern Turkey - or Cappadoccia, the Greek Isles or even Egypt. But as a carpenter's son and a non-citizen, his chances there would have been limited too.

I think it's a fair bet he would have travelled around Judea a lot, got to know people from different walks of life, got to see first hand how the Romans were misgoverning the province and become interested in the popular resistance movement that became Christianity. I think if he'd done nothing but stay at home and obey his parents, he would have been less likely to form the ideas that became the nucleus of a world religion - the "kingdom of God" concept so central to early Christianity strikes me as something springing from someone with more exposure to the world than their own back yard. Again, just a guess, based on people I've known who have seen the world vs those who never leave home.

Because of everything he achieved later, people like to fill in the missing years with significant events and wondrous journeys and mystery. That's just storytelling. I don't think he did anything significant in that time. It's almost certain he didn't - why join a popular resistance movement like John the Baptist's at 32 if you weren't frustrated with life and seeking a way to change the way the world worked? But while he may not have DONE anything, he LEARNED and he SAW things that would inform his later philosophy and his ability to articulate his cause.

Do you want a theory or facts, The facts is That Jesus was going about his father's business, & at age 30 he was baptized by John, There at age 33 1/2 can you guess what happen, It is a fact & not a theory, That is what amazes me, people always say I have a theory, But no facts. I have a theory how I can go to the moon also, But when it comes down to facts, I would need a spaceship. Let's start by using facts, Too many has a theory, but never a answer.

When all the theories have been proposed it still comes down to the truth that Jesus lived a humble and quiet life helping His Parents as any young Jew did at the time.
The reason that we hear nothing of His life at this particular time is simply because He did nothing out of the ordinary.
People want to add all manner of wonderful and whacky ideas and the question has to be `Why`.

Since He was on foot, do you really think He would have walked to China, or Tibet? I think He studied the law, learned the customs, obeyed His parents and waited until it was time for Him to start His ministry.

Well, the Bible tells us that He went back to Nazareth & was obedient to his parents - in other words, He went back home to Nazareth & lived & worked with His earthly parents, taking on His earthly father's trade & in the story of the first miracle of His turning water into wine, His mother demonstrated her dependence upon Him showing that He provided for her needs as a good & faithful son.

He probably stayed in Israel and worked as a carpenter under His earthly father, Joseph

We know nothing of His life between 12 and 30....the bible is silent.

I'll just ask Him when I get there......

Alexa,
What you seek are more ignorant ideas to allow you to stay in the dark. If it were important for us to know then GOD would have told us. HIS Life was sinless, that we know. HE came , preached, taught, and was brutally assasinated on the Roman Cross as was written. That we know. HIS death, burial, ressurection, and ascension happened so that we would have an opportunity to be in Heaven. That we know. You need to begin reading, studying, and obeying GOD's WORD so that you too will have an opportunity to become a CHILD of GOD! Contact me when you are ready to begin and I will assist. Have a great day.
Thanks,
Eds, Christian

It is unlikely that Jesus would have strayed so far from His home. Most likely, He just worked with His father, Joseph and studied at the temple.
