My thoughts entirely. You end up with the 'extra one' crumbling into the bottom of the box and then have to open yet another pack when you have your next bowl. Perhaps it is the I bet you cannot eat 3 thing and they are trying to tempt you :-)

I have noticed this with drinks. I believe it is for show. If people look at calories, they presume that the way it is packaged is a serving. I would drink a bottle of soda pop it it had 200 calories a bottle over one that had 400. But wait, the bottle is 2 servings so... I have the 400 anyway. It pays to read the labels. Also it is less expensive and faster to package larger quantities than smaller ones.

To confuse you terribly. No, really, who cares about the nutritional value of an additional portion of wheat? You could eat six of those things and not gain an ounce of weight. The worst thing to expect is a looser movement.

I have always wondered about this myself, maybe because in order to fill your tum up quicker or because it is healthy to have three at a time. Or it could just be because they want you to eat them faster so you buy some more shredded wheat!!! lol x

The same reason they sell hot dogs in packets of eight, but the buns in packets of 12...encourages you to buy more.
