Drinking at least 2 litres of water per day will assist you to lose weight. Remember that our bodies are made up of predominately water.

Drinking water is part of sensible eating that, combined with about 30 minutes of exercise per day [not necessarily strenuous], will assist you to reach your goal waist size.

I attended a "sensible eating approach to weight loss" course to support my wife and both she and I benefited greatly from this approach. And we have kept the weight off.

The presenter advised us to avoid "diets" and explained why these really did not work and how they could, in fact, cause a person to actually gain weight.

Drinking two litres of water a day is recommended; three if you live in a hot climate. This amount of water won't help you lose weight, it is just a good idea to drink water when you are on a diet because your liver and kidneys need to be flushed.

There could be many reasons for the increase in your waist size - water retention is one, but then we would want to know why you are retaining water.

If your increased waist size is a problem for you, you need to analyze what has changed since January. Are you eating later at night than you used to? Has your activity level changed? Has your overall weight increased? Two waist sizes is alot. Is this the only measurement that has changed? If so, that would be odd.

Drinking a lot of water flushes out your body which gets rid of toxins so thats a good thing. You want to get 32 oz of water each day. You can naturally lose weight just by substituting water with a soda or most other drinks instead of taking so much.

not unless you change your eating habits
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Losing weight is accomplished by using up stored fat.

Fat is your body's way of storing food during times of plenty.

Eat less, exercise more, or both, to get rid of it.

Drinking sufficient water is necessary for general health and function. It has little or nothing to do with weight loss.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!

Stop eating so much. Eat healthier. Excersize. And don't drink too much water, you can suffer from water poisoning. Your problem is you want an easy fix and it's not going to happen.
