This is my 2nd question about the musical. But I love the songs! In Masquerade the part "Hide your face so the world will never find you" contains all the thought of Erik, in the book.
Fascinating, isn't it? and that was just an example.
So I ask of you: What are your favorites songs? Why?
(Erm, sorry the probable bad English but I'm not from here, eh eh!)

Webber is amazing! This musical is one of my favorites. As a music teacher working in the secondary school system under an arts grant, I once had the assignment of producing operas with fifth graders. Their favorite part of the project was when I played a tape of PHANTOM. They could not get enough of it, and neither can I. They had me play it repeatedly!

My favorite song has to be the main theme with it's hallmark "horror movie" hook and an ending written expressly for Sarah Brightman who nails it perfectly on the original recording.

As a performing jazz musician I have arranged a long medley from PHANTOM starting with "Angel of Music and segueing into "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" with its key changes (part of the 3/4 time theme of "Angel" is repeated in 4/4 time in "Wishing"). "Wishing" leads naturally and rhythmically into the "come to me my angel of music" refrain as a transition to change key again. I then go into "All I Ask of You" and into "Music of the Night" which are extremely similar melodically. I end the "Music of the Night" segment with a minor chord instead of major, change key and then go into the main theme. The medley gets heavier rock-oriented as it develops. I usually get a very good audience reception to the arrangement but I really don't care what they think. I love playing it!

"Music of the Night" first. It's such a beautiful song, and it has so much emotion put into it. I'm a sucker for ballads like this.

"Wandering Child" is another one of my favorites(the duet between the Phantom and Christine in the graveyard). I really wish they hadn't cut Raoul from this song though.

The entire Final Lair portion(from "Down Once More" to the end) is without a doubt my favorite part of the show. There's so much feeling put into this song it's very heartbreaking. The very end never fails to bring me to tears.

The opening theme: it always gives me goosebumps and makes me feel alive.

Phantom of the Opera and Music of the Night: Very moving pieces....you can hear the pain and anger in his voice.

Hello, my favorite song is right before "All I ask of you" where Christine tells Raoul that she has seen his face then she sings "...but his voice filles my spirit with a strnge new sound..." then the duo of All I ask of you is so very beautiful
