on the tube, i can't stand sitting staring blankly at the person in the seat opposite, i would favour seats one behind the other.

1. You can keep an eye on everyone and at least facing each other no-one can try to mug you or somebody from behind.

2. I think it is ergonomics and does help people get out sooner.

3. Nothing wrong with wishing someone good morning or giving them a smile.

4. A great way to share your faith. Gosh I need to do that more.

you could stare at the floor, or read the guys paper over his shoulder that is sitting next to you. You don't have to stare at the person across the aisle.
I think they make them that way so that the seats are more accessable, and also when people have to stand, there is more room to stand and squash in. I like them better than seats behind one another because its awful to have to climb over somebody when you are trying to get out in a hurry.

He's a HOF QB. No one who respects the NFL wants him gone. No one can really picture today's NFL without him. If he wants to play, let him play. He wouldn't of had as many INTs last year if the line would of actually blocked the DL and other rushers from getting to him. Vikings will be a bit better for him if he does sign. And I'll just be getting another Favre jersey. Hate the packers so will never buy one. The moment he got sent to the Jets i had one on pre-order, and if he does sign with the Viks it will be the same. I am sick of the retiring unretiring, but I will continue to support him while away from the Fudge Packers.

That way theres less room for standing in the aisles.

If you dont want to stare at someone buy a book or paper.

Get yourself an MP3 player and close your eyes or wear tinted glasses.

Don't sit down, only stand up.

I think that the tube (subway over here) are designed with efficiency in mind vs. comfort.

I carry a little crossword puzzle book specifically for public transport or waiting in lines. Time flies by and unlike a book, you don't mind stop reading it when its time to get off the tube.

Alternatively, could start a group session "hello, anyone have anything they want to share today". LOL

Having seats face each other is more personal and allows for group discussions between friends. I like them. I want compartment carriages brought back.

Yes I hope so too. It's so awkward. I always stare at some point behind them, not knowing where else to look.

Ride the bus. Be squeezed in next to some smelly fat guy. You'll appreciate the sideways seats more.
