You might want to add something about how the Chinese use plants for medicinal purposes (TCM). I have been to China twice and have seen first hand how they do this. They have all kinds of remedies using leaves, roots and every part of different plants. There are many many web sites dealing with this subject.

Try something like how different chemicals can affect the development of plants... I remember doing something like that in grade 5, or perhaps if you can make it creative: How soda's rate of flow can produce light (that's what I did with my friends, it's actually really fun) Or just a volcano; it's easy, you can make it look creative and you should get a decent score.
