It could be any number of things. If it's a recent thing, and both symptoms started simultaneously, then your GP may put you on tablets in case you're retaining water that's collecting in your ankles and lungs (making you breathless).
He will also find out the reason why you're retaining the fluid.
Best to let him give you a thorough once-over, and let him diagnose the reasons. No point in second guessing.
But do try to get an appointment soon.

So have I but that is not to say you have the same problem as I have.
Ankle swelling can be caused by any number of things.
So can breathlessness.
Only your GP and professional consultant at the hospital is qualified to advise you what the problem is likely to be.
Put feet up above your head (lie down on bed with feet raised and resting on the wall) this may help with ankle swelling.
Whilst elevating your ankles - relax and breathe noticing the rise and fall of your natural breath in the abdomen (your tummy rises on the in breath and fall on the out breath).
Put on some relaxing music and close your eyes.
Do this regularly whenever the swelling in your ankle is excessive - a cool compress may also help.
Keep that appointment with your doc.

It sounds to me like you are retaining fluid. You do not say how old you are ~ but you need to see a doctor. You also do not say if you have any other problems with your health, sometimes people develop neropathies or have hardening of the arteries which could also cause swollen ankles. Best to see a doctor.

Circulation difficulties; heart trouble?
No sure, as these symptoms can go with several conditions, including diabetes. No point in telling you not to worry, you already are; I hope you get to see your doc soon.

I don't know but it sounds like possible congestive heart failure. Hopefully that's not what it is, but if you get any worse you should probably go to the ER.
