Recently had to pay a fine for travelling at 39 miles per hour in a 30 mile per zone, .and never had a conviction, in 45 years of driving
Has anyone out there put to the test, and with what results;? The people on the web, who claim they can get you off by using loopholes in the law! ie 3or 4 letters to the police revenue collectors and and you are off the hook ???

Hi girl # 9. you have got it in one, in this country of ours, it seems your are guilty until you prove you are innocent, you can't defend yourself, if you are unaware of committing a traffic offence.

If you're in the UK, and you have been caught by a speed camera, you can ask for a certificate of callibration. If they don't provide one within 14 days, then it is not enforceable.

There are several things that you can try but each has different success rates.
The first thing to do is upon receipt of your notice of intent to prosecute you need to request a copy of the photographic evidence. They will often post a copy to you but some times they may request that you attend the police station to view it.
The second thing to request is a copy of the calibration certificate, often they will not have one due to poor paper work. If they are unable to produce this paper work then they cannot prosecute you.
Don't listen to the stories about sending a check with 1p above the fine or sending the check to the wrong address all these do is wind up the courts.
One thing to think about is that in the UK there are over 6million drivers with points on there licenses and from that 6 million 1 million are one conviction away from loosing there license.

Anyone getting a speeding ticket always ask for proof of conviction and calibration of camera, if they cant or wont produce it take it to court.

yes in Ireland you would have to go to court too to dispute it. You did the crime so now do the time. If everyone had the same attitude as you there wouldn't be much justice out there!

i think you are just wasting everyones time with this. You will have paid more in your taxes paying for the police to process your letters, paying for the judges to hear your complaint in court, than you will by just paying the fine.
After all, you were speeding. Cant take the fine? well dont do the crime.
