And you'd right. Even if not just for the reasons you already think. Christians and Jews both agree on this issue, because they both have one thing in common: a shared understanding of the Bible which entitles Israel to the Israelites.
That's the excuse anyway. The obvious flaw is that if that were the reason, then Muslims would agree - they just don't, because its most Muslims living there losing their homes.
Therefore it is a political issue.
Religion has nothing to do with it.
