According to the Prophecy of the Popes, this is next to the last Pope?

Among other End of the World hints, such as the Mayan calendar ending in 2012, and other prophecies it seems that the Prophecy of the Popes listed this Pope 111 De Gloria Olivae which means "glory of the olive", and the Pope chose Benedict has his papal name and Saint Benedict is directly connected to the Olivites and olive.

After 111 it is said the "n extreme persecution, the seat of the Holy Roman Church will be occupied by Peter the Roman, who will feed the sheep through many tribulations; when they are over, the city of seven hills will be destroyed, and the terrible or fearsome Judge will judge his people. The End"

But most believe this prophecy was added at a later date, and 111 is the last Pope (current).

It seems many "End of the world prophecies", even those made hundreds of years ago, are converging in this age. Is it just because they foresaw this time as passing 2000 years and could not forsee us survivng so long, or is there something to it?

there are many such predictions that are doing the rounds.

i was invited to join a mass consciousness site for sending energy to mother earth at 11.11 am and 11.11p.m.

while meditating i saw four earths spinning. three were grey and dirty and spinning slowly. the fourth was much bigger,cleaner and spinning much faster and was entering into the milky way. after seeing this i searched the entire network to try and understand what i had seen. from what i saw i understood about the third dimention and the moving into the 4 th dimention. basically we will be moving to the other side of the milky way. and some of our mental set up is also going to change. tolerance,respect, compassion, love etc is something that has been predicted.

the earth is vibrating at a much higher vibration level as compared to before. it started in the 1980s. we are presently in the third dimention and will be moving into the 4 th dimention on 31.12.2012. this does not mean the end of the world. people are becoming more spiritual and their vibration level is also increasing. i see many youngsters who are spiritually inclined.

but prior to that there are bad times till 2012.

Both the Mayan long count and the Papal Prophecy may not refer to an end of life entirely. The Papal Prophecy is thought by some to refer to the death of the Catholic Church, at least as we know it. The Mayan long count typically ends with catastrophic events for all of mankind. Droughts, floods, famine, war, and the like are all things that can be expected. Whether or not it means the end of it all, we can only wait and see. The only thing that I can say is that you can always find some doomsday crier in the crowd. It's only a matter of time until one of them is right.

It's sort of like movies made in the sixties and seventies that put the 'far future' as 2009.

End of the world prophecies have all been pointing toward a point in the near but far enough future. Just like omphalism has been derided as 'Last Thursdayism', the whole end time prophecy business could be called 'Next Thursdayism'.
