would the beverage be ok for drinking after? and would the fish be swimming/good for eating later

If you leave it in long enough the fish would die. Are you talking about putting it in the bottle or just the glass you're drinking out of? There is a bar that I frequent that sells goldfish shots and you drink the whole thing goldfish and all

The fish would dry up and die in the drink, thus ruining the scotch.

At least the fish would go out happy. If you ate it (and I don't know why you would) alcohol is a great meat tenderizer.

It can't breath alcohol
