You are correct OP. Your right religion has brainwashed people in to believing a false God(s). Just look at Hinduism and Buddhism faiths with all there different Gods which all mean nothing and will get man nowhere. These are "brainwashed" people. Have you noticed these religions are secluded to countries alone, India and China respectively. If there Gods were so great would not they want to get the word out so that the whole world would be able to be saved. These faiths were developed inside their country by misguided men. I think you were right to leave your church because you didn't understand what it was all about. That shows you had intelligence for not believing in some strange "Christ" on blind faith alone. God does not want people believing him in blind faith he said that man should look to "prove all things" even his very existence. If the 'book' you speak of is the bible then that was not found like you say it was written long ago by men who were inspired to write what God wanted them to write. (Timothy 3:16) There is no way men would be able to write prophecies in the bible and then bring them to pass except a being higher in intelligence than that of man. I can pretty much guess that when you were in the church in your youth you went on a Sunday right? Well your learning about God on entirely the wrong day of the week and doing it in vain. I don't blame you for leaving because whatever church you were in I can bet you it was not a good church in God's eyes no matter how sincere the members actions might have been. I can assure you that if you knew the whole point of being a Christian you would most likely never want to leave Christ and follow the failing world instead.

I don't know if you would call it brainwashing. Parents make decisions for their children based on what they believe is best for their children. Many parents believe that teaching their children about their religion is the right thing to do. They strongly believe in their religion and want to teach it to their children because they love their children and because they believe that their children should know about it. Is it wrong for a parent to do what is best for their children? Sometimes that includes teaching their children about their religion. Of course, it should only be taken to an extent. Parents should give their children a choice and not force then to follow something they don't believe in. My parents never taught me anything about religion growing up, but I chose to become a Christian because I did some research and spent a lot of time thinking about it. I think that it is the duty of parents to inform their children about their beliefs and teach them about those beliefs, but in the end, it should be the child that makes the decision to believe or not.

Sometimes, Mormons are real big on that. Christianity on the other hand is the truth and teaching your children the truth is the right thing to do.
I was raised by Atheist parents but surrounded by Mormons, I studied many many religions before coming to know the truth.

we're all brainwashed, and if you don't believe that you're a traitor or a stupid head. or one cold be nicer and suggest all intelligent people agree. then infering you are not intelligent for disbelieving better than saying one is stupid for disagreeing. A whole web of these coersions and such, some of which you recognize others you may fall into the trap.
Are children especially vulnerable, in more ways yes.

Most parents want the best for their kids and TEACH them their own beliefs so that their kids have a basis for their beliefs. That way, once the child gets older and decide for themselves, apart from their parents teaching (and most kids do), they will have this belief system to fall back on, to compare other beliefs with, etc. According to God in His Word, we are to teach our kids truth which is Jesus who is the Way, the Truth and the Life. So some parents choose to obey their Lord and Master. My cup is half full, yours seems to be half empty. Guess it's all in how you look at things. God bless

You assume the children will decide religion is "bull". There are a great many who learn the hard way that what their parents taught them as children is true only after many years of problems.
By-the-way, teaching a child about what you believe is not brainwashing. If that were the definition you could extent the same argument to science, history, and math. After all, there are many who use science to "convince" everyone that religion is false by insulting their intelligence and pressuring them to follow the "right" way.

Oh shut up.
OBVIOUSLY no one is brainwashing anybody, or else atheists wouldn't even exist. They'd all be "brainwashed" along with the rest of Christianity.
Want to hear something funny? A great deal of religious converts choose Christianity after reaching ADULTHOOD. God, apparently, still has the ability to make sense to people.

Of course they do!
Their religion may well have proven to be a positive influence in their life and out of love for their children they would like them to repeat a winning formula.
Dont condemn them its called doing your best!
Perhaps, just perhaps given time you will regard faith as a positive influence and no longer regard it as garbage.
Whichever you choose. Good luck!

Sometimes?I think that any parent that tries to get a child to believe in invisible friends is brainwashing them all the time- not "sometimes".
