Edit-- really would you buy Downy if it had the picture of the WISDR on it. I couldn't.

So you think of soft fluffy pink warm niceness and want your clothes to feel that way. Besides, she reminds a lot of us moms of our kids or of how we felt as kids, and since we do most of the fabric softener buying, it makes sense to make us feel warm and fuzzy.
