It is not too late to make a report and press charges. I know from personal experience that you can file a report at least up to 5 yrs later. The first thing you need to do is call the police station in the area where the event occurred and request to file a report for sexual assault. Often police stations work with rape advocates who can answer any questions and offer support during any part of the process.

You are the only one who can know what is best for you, but I can say from personal experience that it is empowering and a relief to break the silence. Also, sex offenders tend to take advantage of women (men too) over and over. What I found out recently, was that when I chose to stay silent, it enabled the perpetrator to harm more people.

Anyway, I hope that helps. I am so sorry that that happened to you.

It has been too long to prove anything, because they say they want rape victims to not even change there close when they come in to report it, or take a shower, which makes poor rape victims feel even worse, but the detectives need all the information. I have a younger family member that was raped, and she had to go through it all the same day, and sad but true, no justice was served...
Depending on the state you live in, the might consider rape a huge offense, or as my state, it is not that big of a deal... I would report it, just so they can have him on record, but they cannot arrest someone on hear say, they have to have proof...
I am so sorry that that had to happen to you... It is an awful experience that girls like you and I have to go through... More women out there get raped than not, and most of them like you and I, did not report it... I hope that you are staying strong, and I hope you know that you did not deserve that... I went to the best counsler and maybe you should too, if it is eating at you...Hold your head up high okay... Most rapests are power rapests, and they chose there victims by there timidness...
When a woman is powerful, as I am now, they more than likely wont attack you... Unfortunatly as in your case, it is aquantence rape, and that comes from out of know where...
Be strong

It depends on why you want to report it.

That sounds stupid, but just hear me out.

If you want to excersize your right as a human being to point out your abuser and say "He did this to me, I am speaking out"

I would report.

If you're expecting legal action be taken... It may not go very far.

DO NOT just "forget about it."

When anyone is abused, it leaves marks. Inside. If you're struggling with it, get help, or at least join an online community. There are several if you do a search. Or even though it happened 3 years ago, if you need to talk to someone, call 1-800-656-HOPE, which is run by RAINN.

Dang thats a long time to have that crap in ur head, by now its way to late for them to do anything about, especially if you where seen with him ever since the day it happened. heres why u should do it anyways, there will be a tiny record somewhere that there was a rumour of it happening. He used rape as a tool for whatever reason, thats already in his make up and it has now worked for him at least once. dont you think that whatever the circumstances were that triggered "rape time" will happen again in his life? Itll be cool for whoever finanlly decides to report it to kind of have that little bit of back up. you will probably not get anykind of instant gtratification out of reporting him, u might even be made to look like a liar at this moment. but womens revenge is a patient one. more and more women that report him sexually in his life will make it harder and harder for him to denie it, and when he finaly does it in a convictable case, theyll reopen ur case and use it as evidence please give the next girl a helping hand and dont discredit yourself by staying there I did it I know its better to leave

She ought to checklist it genuine away, as a results of fact in maximum circumstances, if she have been to attend a jointly as and enable it bypass with out reporting it, no person will have faith her. they are going to all have many questions as to why she in no way stated it interior the 1st place. Being scared is comprehensible, yet they consistently anticipate you to checklist it, so it does not take place to you returned or somebody else. There are distinctive forms of rape, yet there is often actual evidence of a rape. If she submit a conflict, a physician can be certain if it have been rape or no longer by ability of doing a vaginal examination and so on. There may well be lacerations interior the tissue of the vagina and if she fought returned, she ought to have markings on different factors of her physique, and on him. That way, giving an define of the suspect and the place she struck him at can uphold her end of the story, if the attack did in actuality take place.

I'm glad he's not your boyfriend anymore.
I don't really know what to advise, but I think it would be good for you to find a counselor to help you. It takes a lot of emotional energy to go through a rape conviction. So it depends on how much you feel it will help you get over what happened. Also, it depends on whether or not you think he's doing the same thing to other women.

It'll be hard to prove, but it's worth a shot if there's any chance he'll be punished for his actions. I think statue might be five years, but you should contact a lawyer to look into it. Most attorneys give an initial consultation over the phone for free. Best of luck to you.

I’d report it. What if you reporting prevents him from raping someone else. I think it's called Megan's Law or something that he will be placed on a known list for sex offenders. In my opinion you will relieve your conscious and be doing the world a favor. Report his @ss.

I think you definitely waited too long. Almost 3 years is a substantial amount of time where evidence that he did this may have been lost. I really don't know what to tell you.

I think it's been to long. When you get raped, you shouldn't bathe/shower until you've been checked into a hospital. That way they have the "proof" that you were raped. Maybe get free advice from a lawyer to see what he/she has to say.

Sorry this happened to you. n
