I am curious and want good and bad examples within the book. I think it is a bit odd no one can ever give me an answer to my questions so its seems your not meant to think about what you read. If faith is accepting without thinking it to me seems a bit silly

Okay faith is not accepting without thinking. It is actually more of an example of accepting despite thinking. It is not something that is easy to do however those that do, do so despite not being able to use the five human physical senses for scientific proof. Faith in a way is achieved by excercising another sense.

Let me put it to you like this. There exists not only in the universe, but right here on this planet and within the solar system elements of reality which cannot be detected by the known human senses. Machines for example can detect soundwaves and spectrums of light that the human eyes and ears cannot detect. So it is both silly and arrogant to base the existence of all things on our five senses when we know factually that even the animals are able to detect things that we cannot.

Our ability to detect certain phenomena around us has been enhanced by modern technology only within the last 100 to 150 years starting with the ability to harness electricity and then all devices that have been powered by electricity since. On a geological timetable we are in our technological infancy. 500 years ago it was widely agreed that the earth was flat. Today a few scientist now argue the existence of wormholes, blackholes, and dark matter, with little recourse to prove it scientifically. The existence of these phenomena are not easily proven nor understood however the students or disciples of these scientist have faith in the phenomena described by these scientist despite lack of absolute physical proof.

These scientists have published books detailing their own observations and their unproven hypothesis based on observations and testing with the equipment that is available on earth today. Many who are incapable of complete comprehension of the material presented still believe in the comprehension of the presenter of the material and therefore accept the material at hand by faith. Is this any different than lets say a very smart individual for his time who's specialty was not astronomy but instead morality.

As this individual had uncommon abilties to deduce what was necessary to achieve a level of emotional freedom and happiness by living a moral life, his expertise was also uncommon and impossible to prove through physical means. Is this so hard to grasp?

The Bible is both literal and vague and it is also well known that many stories were written in the form of parables. Or stories that tell another story by example. The perception of what is literal and not are the source of confusion and do require some belief in the author's level of expertise until the student can catch up. Is this so different than any other scientific text?

I think that it is the best book ever written! Well, your ? is a bit difficult to understand but here goes. If you feel you can't understand the bible, try reading "The Book" by Tyndale House Publishers, Inc. Is is written just like a regular book. You can't help but find the answers you want or need in here. It has been around along time. Try a good Book store or Amazon.com. If you just are making a bad comment about how silly the bible is-then why did you ask the question?

easily, you ought to replace your wording basically a sprint: Hebrew Bible Roman Catholic Bible Protestant Bible The Jewish scholars finished the version of the Hebrew Bible in with regards to the 0.33 century. That text cloth is risk-free in the two the RC and Prot. Bible. The order of the books is distinctive, as a results of fact of underlying assumptions. The Christian Bible (the recent testomony) wasn't particularly nailed down till almost the 10th century or so. After that, it became locked in. This became executed in a chain of Church Councils. this article is an identical in the two the RC and Prot. Bible, and the previous testomony is fairly lots an identical in the two of those Bibles, different than that the order may well be slightly distinctive. the only distinction between the RC and Prot. Bibles is the presence of the Apocrypha -- a number of books that have been unknown in Hebrew, yet have been risk-free right now in Greek language translations of the previous testomony that have been in ordinary use around the time of the early Church. That Greek translation of the previous testomony (stated as the Septuagint) became so ordinary (maximum Jews did no longer at that component undergo in suggestions the thank you to communicate or examine Hebrew anymore) that everytime you stumble on the previous testomony quoted interior the recent testomony, it relatively is often the Septuagint text cloth they are quoting.

I think the Bible, historically speaking, is the most powerful book ever. Why?
-It has been used to justify many of the wars, before 19th Century.
- Handed the foundations for today's law in many cultures and countries.
- Because it's powerful prescence in Western Society, it has been one of the causes or supports to many social movements.
-Ater the Thora it was the only one that stated the concept of One- only, omnipotent God (monotheism). Which was a radical new concept in the ancient times in many cultures (Rome, Greece, later Asian Countries)

Faith without thinking seems silly to me too.... like it's an insult to G-d, meaning, he gave us a brain, I would expect he'd want us to use it.

On to your question....

I think the bible is a good book with examples of every human emotion under the sun... and what may or may not be good ways to deal with those emotions. Good stories to help us think about where our emotions can lead us... when bad things happen should we react like Job... or should we react like Jonah ? lying about relationships... (story of Abraham/ Sarah & David/Bathsheba) ... the exodus... what emotions build when we deal with angry people and things they might do.

I think it's a tough read. Seriously, terrible character development. First jesus is this kid, then straight to manhood. WHAT ABOUT TEEN jESUS! I bet those were his problem years. You know teenagers. Think about it, he had to be a cocky kid, imagine showing up at the father- son picnic with....GOD!. He'd win every event.
Honestly I think the bible is antiquated, and at this point it causes more damage than good. It breeds prejudice and hatred. Faith is disregarding your thinking which makes it even sillier.

It's faith without seeing, not thinking, first of all, and what do you mean by good and bad examples? Your ques is confusing. There are no bad examples in God's Holy, infallible Word.

Definition of faith - belief that is not based on proof.
Where does it say we don't think?
It's 2:00 am right now, and I can't see the sun, but I believe it is still there.
I am living in VA, 200 miles away from my home town, but I believe it is still there too.
Do you believe in Mars/Venus/bacteria/dinosaurs/snow leopards? Have you seen any of them?
By good/bad examples, do you mean people's behavior?
God's reactions? What?

John 20:29[kjv]Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

John 3:16[kjv] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

so when we believe in JESUS we have eternal life.JESUS lived a sinless life and gave up his life as a sacrifice so we can be sin free. Ask JESUS to come into your heart and forgive ur sins and cleanse ur past with his blood.

With a simple prayer like above u can be saved.JESUS loves u and wants u to be saved.
