What is the proper way to propose to my girlfriend?

I dont believe that there is a proper way...you do it however you feel in your heart...I believe that, that would have the biggest impact on her..otherwise traditionally, you ask her father first, then her. good luck!

In short...there is none....in long, find a place that holds meaning for both of you, or a place that will stand out in your mind. When i proposed to my fiancee i took her to the local arbiertum that had an indoor tropical rainforest and on the bridge near a small waterfall i asked her. Why there? Because it seemed romantic and i thought it was something SHE would like. Next, set the mood, remember your trying for romantic here, a fancy res truant is great but remember to talk all about how wonderful she is before hand, tell her why you love her and why you think she is the greatest women in the world. Another thing, although it may seem like a good idea DO NOT hide the ring in FOOD or DRINK....trust me on this. So in short again, there is no proper way, just allot of different ways. so happy for you......well the traditional way is to ask permission from her dad its not as scary as you think its more relaxed now so dont worry.....then some suggestions would be take her to maybe a place where you 1st met or maybe a favourite place over a sunset somewhere romantic and tell her how you feel and how she makes you feel when your with her and go from there be romantic and make it special something that she will remember forever it doesnt have to be expensive not at all just original and special from you......good luck and all the best.....

Ask permission first fromthe gf father.
Take her to her favorite place, if she has none then take her to a romantice place out to eat, have the dinner table preparred with rose petals and ask if they can bring out her favorite dessert with the ring on top. and while they are bringing it out (have them walk to where you can see them) start telling her that you love her and lately you have realized you just keep loveing her more everyday and there is noone in the world who you would rather spend your life with and when they plop the plate in front of her say "can i keep you"
Or you can do it at home have rose petals going up to a warm bubble bath just lite by candles and have a floating candle with a letter that explains how you feel about her make it long enough so you can cook her dinner and make a fortune cookie with a ring for dessert and a slip that says "can I keep you" (make sure candle lite is for dinner too.)
